This is a very good outlet surge protector. I’ve been using it for about nine months now, and it has not failed me yet. The fact that it has two USB charging ports is a definite plus. The blue light in it serves as a nice night light when one is fumbling around in the dark trying not to break one’s type on the nearest piece of furniture. I would buy the item again and would recommend it to others as a good product.

I just purchased my third and fourth units intending to use them in two of our bedrooms. Sadly, the outlets in the rooms are setup to have one side switched. You flip the light switch elsewhere in the room and whatever is plugged into that side of the outlet goes on or off. This Tap has only one plug, and given the orientation of the prongs, the outlets will be switched in our rooms. Given that we wanted to use the USB taps for overnight charging, we were faced with the reality that we would need to give up the wall switch that control our bedside lamps. Even if the Tap would have been oriented to make use of the non-switched outlet, we’d be in the same boat. So, we now have two taps that we’ll have to find another use for.
Also, some of the outlets in our house don’t have the screw in the center of the outlet. It those instances, we can’t screw these units into the wall plug. Lastly, if you’re concerned about the output amperage delivered by the USB ports, check the literature/packaging that the Taps come in. You won’t be able to find that information on the actual Tap. We plug both Apple and Android phones into ours and have had no problems but I know that the two systems have slightly different power input requirements for their USB charging.
If the limitations above aren’t deal breakers, you should be happy with this GE Surge Protector Tap

A great space saver. Also it saves having to buy new phone chargers, USB cables are much less expensive to buy.
The only negative is the blue nightlight feature is bright. If it’s not in a bedroom then this will likely not be a problem, but for some people it’s going to be too bright at night (in a bedroom).
This comes with its own screw and simply installs in place of the screw that holds on your existing outlet plate. You can keep or remove your outlet plate I suppose, but I kept mine in place. Just keep the original screw in case you move this to another location later.
