So far this is the coolest little multi tool I have ever used
DJAR –
Pros: lightweight, good materials, sharp little knife. Sturdy mini-carabiner to clip onto a keyring, Has two flat head and one phillips mini screwdrivers.
Cons: because it’s so tiny, if you needed to use it as a screwdriver, there isn’t much to grab for torque. But it opened grandkid’s toy battery compartments, so sufficient for my needs.
For what I needed it’s perfect: tiny and light enough to fit in a pocket, sharp enough to cut the tape on packages, tags off of clothes, and slit open letters.

I gotta say, this thing is really well made. Fit and finish are outstanding, and the small screwdriver works great on my glasses, which i wasn’t expecting, so that’s kind of a bonus.
The knife came sharp out of the package, and the carabiner spring clip thing? Well, not sure what to call it, but i saw in several reviews, that it had the tendency to pop off on its own, say from getting twisted by your keys, what have you. On mine, one end is twisted on one end, in such a manner that even if it popped off, it looks like it would just hang there, not fall off completely. Maybe they addressed the issue after those reviews were done, because it sure looks like it on mine.
As i said, fit and finish are fantastic, the way the tools fit together, how they slide out, how the knife locks into place, It seems every element was carefully thought out, except for a couple of areas.
One thing about the unusual shape and size that bothers me is I really wish I could carry it in my pocket, but it just doesn’t sit flat, it’s kind of like having a toy car in your pocket. Trying to take it out can be a chore, since it falls all the way to the very bottom of your pocket and can kind of tumble around when you are trying to dig it out.
I haven’t tried carrying it on a carabiner, but i think i will start. Not sure how convenient carrying it on a keychain will be when I need to use the bottle opener, to me that kind of seems like an oversight, having the spring clip on the opening to the bottle opener. Plus due to the small form factor, it takes a bit of doing to get it on and off a keychain, you have to twist and angle the multitool just so to slide it off and on. I guess only using it will tell.
All in all though, I’m happy with my purchase.

I keep this on my keys, it’s nice and small, and easy to remove when using it. Great set of tools for that. It’s a bit difficult to close, but you will get the hang of it, and it will also loosen up over time as you use it.

March2023 UPDATE:
Not much to report, except that after 10 years of hanging on my keychain, this little tool still just keeps on serving its purpose. The tools are still strong, and lock up tight when in use. It pops off of the ring once in a while, but I haven’t lost it yet. I have more than gotten my money’s worth from this little tool at this point.
NOV 2017 UPDATE:
Quick update after almost 5 years of use. This has been a daily driver on my keychain since Jan 2013, and I am happy to report that it is still hanging in there. As you can see from my most recent photo, it does show its age, with some visible wear and tear, but otherwise, it is as useful as ever. All of the tools still lock firmly into place, perform well, and have never let me down. There is no side play or looseness with any of the tools, and it still remains closed when not in use. The carabiner clip has occasionally bent, and popped out of place a couple times over the years, but it is easy to put back into place, and I have not lost it yet. All in all, this little thing continues to be a discreet and handy tool to have available, and I regularly put it to good use. In fact, I am as impressed with this tool’s durability, as I am with the staying power of the teeny diamonds on the purple Barbie key which also appears in my photos over time.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I purchased this in January of 2013, and, after spending over a year and a half jangling away on my keychain, my Gerber Curve is still as intact and useable as it was the day I put it there. The blade is still sharp enough for whatever one might need a teeny knife for, and the screwdriver blades are still nice and square. The bottle opener has probably seen more use than any of the other tools (work hard, play hard) but it too, and the clip that holds the tool on my keyring are both still as good as ever. In my photos, you can see both the wear it has endured over time, and how, in addition to its other myriad uses, it also provides the additional service of lending some small amount of manly credibility to the diamond-encrusted purple Barbie key, with which it shares its real estate.
Would buy again.

Let’s look at the claims for the Curve:
“The Gerber Curve Multi-Tool is a stylish multi-tool that you can take with you wherever you go.” Style may be personal but this is a claim many would agree with.
“The Curve has many useful tools that you will find helpful for everyday tasks.” I haven’t found anything new to use this on that I couldn’t do with my mini-Victorinox
“The 1.25″ drop point blade, medium and small flat head screwdrivers, philips screwdriver, fingernail file, and bottle opener all lock into place when needed.” I have yet to turn a screw with either blade but the knife is sharp. The locking feature is helpful, but to get to the tool you want to use, you may have to open a couple other blades first. Just from the fit in my hand, using it as a screw-driver is going to be a little less comfortable than with a larger handle.
“The Curve also includes a convenient carabineer clip, allowing you to easily attach it to a key chain or belt loop.” The clip is easy to use, but doesn’t fill me with confidence that it will hold. Fortunately, the open work allows for more than one way to clip it to a key ring, etc. The Curve is short and fat, so that may make it awkward to get at other things on your key ring.
It’s so small that I’m not sure I will ever try it on a belt loop.
Made in China, I see no compromise on quality. And, like my other Gerber knives, I don’t expect to take advantage of the “limited lifetime warranty.”
