This is an excellent guitar. Smooth and warm lows. Crisp and bright highs. Almost effortless to play. The action is on the lower side, so it plays similar to an electric. Very easy on the fingertips. Playability is great and the quality is top-notch for any guitar, let alone one at this price point. If you’re looking for a guitar at this price, then don’t bother looking any further. This should be competing with guitars twice it’s price. This is the type of guitar that makes you WANT to pick it up and play, and there isn’t much better praise than that.

One thing to note: The reviews stating that this is more of a finger picking guitar are definitely true. That’s not a bad thing in my view. It just depends on what you’re looking for. On a scale of 1-10. “1” being a very bright sounding guitar, good for picking crisp and precise single notes. And “10” being a very bassy guitar good for strumming boisterous, and loud chords. This would be about a 4. It’s going to offer excellent playability and lower action at the expense of a tiny bit of low end grunt. But in my opinion it just makes it sound more sophisticated and elegant. As I said, not even an issue for me. But I could see how someone could have a problem with it if they didn’t realize what they were buying. Regardless, if it isn’t quite loud enough for you, just plug it in and the problem is solved. It shouldn’t stop you from enjoying what it otherwise a phenomenal instrument.

    Worth every last penny.

Last note, Chicago Music Exchange did a very good job. I’m always weary about getting guitars shipped. But this was well packaged and arrived quickly. It clearly had been opened, inspected throughly, and re-packaged with care. It came as a box within a box. The inner box actually containing the guitar was actually for a completely different brand, and was obviously just something they had laying around but was the best choice to keep it protected for shipping. Kind of made me giggle a bit, but I was happy to see proof that an individual was actually taking the time to ensure the guitar was in good shape and remained that way in transit. 5 stars all around.

I bought this as a travel /vacation guitar, I have a Martin that I won’t take camping or anywhere very far , was very surprised at how good this guitar sounds and plays , for the money it’s better than I expected, only thing is I really had trouble finding a case for it

I was disappointed somewhat as the audio pickup had detached during shipment. I used some Alien Tape to reattach it, but felt that it should have been attached better by the mfgr. The guitar has decent fret height – you don’t have to push the strings down overly far. It sounds OK – the spruce top will continue to improve with age. The strings, themselves, feel and sound kind of cheap, so I’m hoping a nice set of quality steel strings will improve the sound. My Takamine sounds and plays better, but I had it worked by a luthier. I will use this Guild as a traveler. It is reasonably priced and I believe it will provide years of practice and enjoyment as it mellows with age.

I have only been playing guitar for about 2.5 months now and started with a cheap 3/4 guitar. After starting on that and playing with the middle/higher end guitar in the stores I knew I wanted to upgrade. I thought about the Guild dreadnought 240, but I really enjoy the size, look, and feel of the OM version. The sound is great. It definitely has a full sound but is more bright than a dreadnought would be. I think this is a great choice for the price point and I really enjoy the arched back design. It is very light and comfortable.

Bought this “used very good condition” from Amazon warehouse. The electronics didn’t work and the volume and tone controls that were supposed to be inside the edge of the sound hole weren’t present. I checked the description on Amazon and on the Guild guitar website thinking perhaps it was a different model but it showed the controls should be on this model. Amazon processed a return quickly but couldn’t explain how this guitar that was returned at least once before I bought it didn’t have the described controls was sold again without being checked out. It’s a pretty guitar and if the electronics(under saddle pick up) it did have worked I might have kept it.

The guitar is not the most beautiful I’ve ever owned, but it’s comfortable and easy to play. I like the size and low action. The tuners feel small but that’s not a problem.
