Overall, my first impression of the Hamilton Beach Brew Station didn’t send me over the moon.
The heating element got a charred spot during the very first use – like in a restaurant, when an *almost* empty coffee pot sits on the warmer plate until the remaining liquid keeps cooking down until it becomes a solid layer of something resembling creosote baked onto the bottom. In my photo, it doesn’t look as dark – thanks to the flash 🤦🏼‍♀️
The coffee this machine makes is quite good, but water always remains on top of the grounds in the filter basket – even HOURS after you brewed it. That means you must place something underneath when you take it to the sink to let it finish draining, or to the garbage can to dump it out – otherwise, you’ll leave a trail of coffee. If you have a tendency to get lost in your kitchen easily, I suppose this *could* come in handy… I don’t know.
But THEN there’s the Iced Coffee feature. It’s worth the entire cost of the machine, in my honest opinion!
You can put a tray of ice (+/-, depending on the size of the cubes, size of the tray, etc) directly into the holding tank, which means the water gets pumped from the reservoir, through the coffee in the filter basket, and right onto ICE! No need for adding a ton of ice to your HOT coffee once it’s been brewed, or guessing how much sugar/sweetener, creamer, & whatever else you prefer in your Joe… only to find that you’ve gotten it so watered down, or too sweet, or white as a sheet, & it doesn’t even look OR taste like java anymore!
You DO have brewing options, which is nice: brewing just 1-4 cups, brewing regular strength coffee or BOLD coffee, and lastly, the aforementioned (FABULOUS!) Iced Coffee feature.
It does allow you to dispense your coffee a cup at a time – but it’s not a freshly-brewed cup, as one might be led to believe by the description. It’s still sitting there being heated until it shuts off (automatically or manually). You can set the warmer for zero hours, or to power down after 2 hours, 3 hours, or 4 hours.
All in all, it’s definitely not causing me to experience buyer’s remorse or anything. I wouldn’t have it anymore if that were the case. I bought a (separate) single cup Brewer within a couple days of this purchase, and it’s no longer here. It smelled AND tasted like freshly brewed plastic, even though I ran plain water through it the first time… & it was no better on the sixth cup. 🤢
In case someone is going to look at my first & last statements to decide for or against this item, I will say that it makes me quite happy. I hope that you find what makes YOU happy!

It is a compact coffee maker which enables you to have a hot, but not stale, cup of coofee when ever you please over a three hour period. No carafe to break. However over a period of years the “O ring” in the strain
er which seals the hot coffee contaier starts to harden which incurs drips which can make a mess.

The Hamilton Beach Brew Station is my all-time favorite coffee machine. We have purchased four of them to date after trying a cuisine art unit that routinely leaked all over the counter. None of the four Hamilton Beach units ever leaked. The controls are easy to use, and the unit makes exactly the coffee we enjoy. We do occasionally clean the metal filter at the bottom of the Coffee Tank by pouring some “clean that pot” liquid and following the instructions – does a nice job. We also use filtered water along with both a metal filter and a paper filter in the Filter Basket for very consistent taste. Excellent job Hamilton Beach.

Hamilton Beach Engineers get your act together: Unfortunately, there is a flaw in the design that causes unimaginable frustration and very limited product life of maybe a year. The flaw ruined the first three Brew Stations that we bought. We discovered that the Coffee Dispenser Bar would no longer release coffee from the Coffee Tank (see A in Frame 1 of the figure). Pushing that Bar should force the plastic Lever B (in Frame 2) toward the front of the unit. One can see, by tipping the Coffee Tank backward, the plastic Coffee Release Valve C (in Frame 3); the valve has a very stiff spring to prevent coffee from accidently dripping out. At first, it seems the lever B fails by no longer making contact with the valve but placing a pad between B and C does not help and eventually Lever B breaks away. We found that Lever B is quite flexible in a failed unit compared with a new unit. This means Lever B in a failed unit does not have the rigidity to open the Valve C to release the coffee. Moral of the Story: Hamilton Beach, please consider making the Lever B and associated components out of metal. A couple of events might be occurring (or both). First repeated pressure on the Lever B might fatigue the plastic. Second, the Lever B is next to the high temperature heating element and high temperature is well known to deteriorate the strength of plastic. After all these years, this defect cannot be a surprise to the company. Perhaps replacement parts are available. We only finally figured out the problem when we were in a position to compare failed and new units.

Finally, we plan on returning the new unit that arrived today because the Lid hinge was apparently damaged during shipping – the plastic protrusion forming a hinge was broken off – the Lid flaps around.

But again, we absolutely love the Hamilton Beach Brew Station but definitely not the nasty flaws.

Update: Engineering and quality control departments need massive downsizing: The new Brew Station leaked all over the counter. First one with this flaw out of the 5 we tried. Surprising the Hamilton Beach lawyers don’t start to worry.

New update- our 2nd one stopped working after 3 months they only give you a one month return window this sucks!!!! We push the cup and nothing is coming out
Update—>ive had this less then a year, it was working perfect, we loved it, but last week it started leaking the water from the reservoir, so now we can keep the reservoir tank placed in position until we are ready to make the coffee, we’re so bummed out!!!!

We are so happy with this purchase, before after one hour our other coffee pot would turn off, and the coffee would get cold this when you can program it between 1 to 4 hours to stay on, we bought a reusable filter so we don’t have to keep buying the paper ones just make sure after you’re done using it when you clean out that reusable filter lift up the other part underneath and rinse that really good so the coffee does it take on the bottom and you’re using new coffee over old coffee. It works great. We love it and very happy we purchased it 🙂

Unfortunately this item came in a damaged box and would not power on. Such a shame as we were really looking forward to having this in our home. We have started the return process and hope to source another soon. So disappointed it didn’t work 😳
