This machine is replacing a simple brew coffeemaker. I was looking for taste, simplicity and speed in a model that might actually last longer than a year. I’ve purchased so many, different kinds, and they seem to burn out fairly quickly. The coffee is good, not amazing, the speed probably taking away from that. Each cup takes about 2-3 minutes. The water situation is a little odd. I get a similar size cup of coffee whether I fill for the 8 or the 14 oz cup. Seems hot enough. The drip is messy, splattering around the cup no matter the size. I use a work around with a tall travel mug. After the machine is finished brewing, you get the fun of trying to clean the dual filters, and the part that dispenses the water. Not easy, it’s annoying, and takes more time than it should. It’s still early in the purchase, so I’m hoping to figure out an easier way to clean it. I’ll hang on to it, for now.

Update: 09-27-2024. They have offered to replace under warranty. Different model, cheaper, listed at 35$ but I have to pay 30$ plus tax for shipping. Lousy result for me!
I liked the coffee maker, but it just stopped working one day. Purchased Jun 2, 2024, it stopped working first or second week of Sep 2024. I cannot return for a refund. With tax (in Canada) I paid just over $75 for this machine and it worked for only 3 months.

Bought this to replace a much fancier all in one name brand that bit the dust by extravagantly breaking apart while spinning its pod.
Let’s be honest – this is not the fanciest coffee maker on the market. It takes a couple of minutes to brew, sure – but honestly, for the price and the freedom of having a simple mesh basket to use your own grinds, the value for money is absolutely there. Note that it doesn’t force water through like a pod system, but is more like a miniaturized coffee maker – not quite as slow as a drip, but it’s the same type of brewing, just into a smaller basket.
Initially I felt disappointed by the simplicity of this coffee maker, but once I got over myself and realized all I was really missing was marketing and sunk costs from the usual fancy pod systems, I’ve grown to love this little thing. It makes a good cup of coffee. I find I get the best results with somewhere finer than a medium grind – I’d say a fine(ish) grind level.
Really the only (small) sticking point I have is that it has no water reservoir, so you have to fill every time you use it. I can’t fault it for that either though, as this means it takes up much less counter space.
If you can’t justify making a pot a day, this should be all you need. Not to mention that you really get bang for your buck with using your own coffee without having to mess with 3rd party pod adapters or anything like that. I had a 950g tin of coffee last 2.5months using this once daily. This would honestly make a great gift for a student coffee drinker living in a dorm.

2nd edit: XMCOSOCS single serve coffee filters are ‘sometimes sold together’. They seem small. Do they work. Rufus doesn’t know and there’s no way to get any kind of response from Hamilton Beach. No answer to my emails about replacing a filter my cat chewed up, or paper filters to line it. Help!
Edit: no parts available for this product. I followed the trail and apparently if you need something you have to buy a new machine. Our cat thought our filter was a chew toy. We won’t bother with Hamilton Beach anything anymore.
My husband has been using a 12 cup just for himself for years. He finally started drinking less and throwing a lot out.
He recently visited his cousin. They have a Keurig and he fell in love with the idea.
I wasn’t crazy about the $$$ but as I searched I discovered single serve coffee makers can have a reasonable $. I ordered two. A habit of mine when I really don’t know what I want.
Being single serve he was able to try them together since he he typically drinks three cups a day.
The other brand wasn’t hot enough. This one is perfect.
There are reviews not liking the splash. I consider it minor. It’s pretty much at the top of the back and of course there are always drips after you pull the cup out just like a large coffee pot. I don’t mind doing a quick wipe of the back, and the drip plate comes out and it’s very easy to wipe out.
I’m grateful to have more counter space. It’s very easy to move around. I much prefer white appliances in the kitchen. It’s much brighter and appears more spacious.
He’s very happy that his coffee has that strong Louisiana flavor. Community Coffee. I call it his Cajun coffee. Far too strong for me!!
One extremely important factor about this sweet little machine is that it come with a permanent double filter. (The 2nd one catches any extra grounds, though that hasn’t happened. Put them out, empty the grounds, rinse. We have a drain strainer that catches everything so no grounds go down the sink.
NO PLASTIC GOING LANDFILLS! You recycle? Great. But do you know how much energy recycling requires?
There are machines with more bells and whistles but this one is perfect for my husband. It always pays to have a happy Honey.

We like to have a cup or two of coffee in the afternoon and found we weren’t drinking it all. Can’t waste anything these days so I bought the Hamilton Beach The Scoop. Good reviews, easy to use. It’s small, makes one cup of coffee or a travel mug with ground coffee instead of the pricey k-cups. You don’t have to measure the water if you don’t want. I fill the coffee cup with water I’m having my coffee in. Perfect amount every time. Learning curve on the amount of coffee. Highly recommend this little coffee maker.

There are plenty of single cup coffee makers on the market. When I needed a replacement the selection was limited until Prime Day. This coffee maker with its suppose drip catch tray looks dirty all the time and drip tray is difficult to clean. I like my coffee strong but if I use more grounds than the instructions recommend then there is overflow. Definitely I do not recommend white. To have the convenience of a quick morning cup I have to put up with lose of counter space. I like my counters to look clean. Its super tall and stands out as always dirty. The handle protrucing from the front is a definite advantage over other single cups I have used for years. The picture shows a white cup to go with white appliance. I received a black cup/mug. This $40 plus dollars went to Goodwill.

I received this overnight and couldn’t wait to try it. I purchased the write. I washed it out 3 times and then brewed my first cup. I put 2 1/2 coffee scoops in the machine. I was using a 8 ounce cup so added a touch over 8 ounces of water. Pressed brew and Waited.
Some reviews said the coffee wasn’t hot. I love a hot cup of coffee but this was so hot it burnt my tongue. Still would rather have it burning than Luke warm. Next time I am going to only use 2 scoops of coffee instead of 21/2 scoops. I like it strong but I found it to strong. Other an a couple of tiny water splatter no mess. One thing you need to do is after the brew shuts down do not remove your cup right away. You will see the water is still coming out.

I’ve been trying to find years trying to find a coffee maker that would make one cup of coffee. This one does. Not only that it’s simple and easy to use I don’t need filters. It’s small and fits nicely on the counter . I can rinse out the Scoopy thing under the sink: it’s very simple. The only problem I have had with it is when you make a cup of coffee that isn’t a tall cup it tends to Splash coffee on the counter. I fixed this by sticking something under the cup to make it higher up. The coffee could be a little hotter but I add a lot of cream so that’s a problem but on the whole I think I finally found the coffee maker I can use every single day without getting frustrated and angry or screwing up the coffee.

Works well, but I like the old metal model (discontinued) better.

First, I guess I was in a hurry when I ordered and didn’t realize, this machine doesn’t take pods. That was ok, I went with it, didn’t send it back. One month later, it won’t brew the full cup, cuts off with half the water, basically it’s terrible. Don’t buy this one!

Coffee seems to be ok but I like to set it to come on in the morning rather than get up to make it
