Michelle Rene DeBellis –
I loved the intensity of the writing and the way each trial changed Brian and strengthened him.
I loved how even the worst events turned out for his good because he refused to feel self-pity and continued to use good sense to survive

My son and I absolutely loved this book and really the whole series. It was such a good coming of age story, fairly intense at times but overall very well written and has a lot of real life application you can pull from it.

This book was fun and easy to read for a child, but at the same time recounted a plausible and serious adventure. I got this as a birthday gift for my little cousin.

My students really enjoyed the book. We watched the movie that was based on the book (A Cry In the Wild) as a culminating activity. The students unanimously preferred the book. They also unanimously suggest that 6-7th graders are the perfect age for enjoying the book.

Great book. My book club selected this read. I enjoyed the suspense and trails of survival the main charactered went through. The end was a little stale, but over all deserved the three New Berry Honors award!
There are book club reading discussion questions in the back.

This is an easy read and is very inspirational. Warning: there are marital indiscretions and divorce heavily into the story. But it is mostly as survival story, using a strong will. I love the part near the end where he feels technology is cheating nature.
