This is a perfect fit for a tenor. I have purchased this twice. One for my alto and once for my tenor. It fits perfectly for my tenor. For the alto, I needed to squeeze the “u” (the upper part of the stand) to hold it more steadily, which it did.

Very sturdy and portable. You need to make sure that you pay attention when you are placing the sax in the stand. It is possible that when you put it in, it may not be seated all the way. If this happens it can be a bit unstable, but DOES NOT get unstable enough to fall.

So 5 stars all the way. You will not regret the purchase. Great value.

Very well built, but for me there was one issue. The yoke that grips the bell of the sax is ever so slightly rotated clockwise, i.e. the left prong is higher than the right. If your sax, like mine, is from the era when it was customary to have flare of the bell perfectly perpendicular to the body of the instrument, you will have trouble getting the instrument to sit squarely on the stand, as the body wants to slip off the left side of the lower support bracket.

Note this would not be an issue with most modern saxes; they angle the bell slightly to the right so that when you rest the horn against your right hip the bell still faces out front center. For these, the rotated yoke is probably a perfect fit.

Initially, however, I didn’t know this, so I wondered if it might have been a manufacturing defect. I wrote to customer support, who relayed this message back from the factory: “When we developed this stand, we took several saxophone bells from main brands in the market to test and found their bells are not parallel, so we designed our yoke as what it is now.” They also recommended the DS630BB model, which has a different (“auto-grip”) yoke design.

It’s still a real good stand, tho, maybe the best one on the market, so I’ll probably keep it and try to find something to bulk up the right yoke prong with to bring its height up a little (a couple inches of 3/4″ vinyl tubing, maybe, or foam water pipe insulation).

Tip: The small lower brace can be adjusted up or down, but if you’re only ever using it with one sax, loop a couple rubber band or wire ties around the vertical shaft above and below it and it will always flip down to meet the body of the sax at the same point.

UPDATE: Having obtained the auto-grip DS630BB version of the stand, I can confirm that it is indeed a substantial improvement when used with my tenor, and even more so with the alto. Also, my sax tech pointed out that you can bend the 530’s prongs up or down to even them out, if you’re so inclined.

I bought a second sax stand one so I could leave one set up at home and one in the tenor sax case. I was very impressed with how tight the pieces were assembled. Actually better than the one I bought a decade again. Very firm. Very nice.
In case you were curious like I was, this one does have the rubber plugs, covering holes, on it so you can add flute, clarinet, soprano sax pegs later. From my phone, the photos did not look like it. The legs looked smooth.

Great quality and very stable. I expect this to stand up to my teenager boy’s daily use for a long time. As expected.

Bought this for my son. He plays the alto and tenor saxophone and works well when switching between the two. It is very sturdy and when not using it folds and has a bag. My son was very happy with it.

A little Pricey, but Heavy Duty and good quality. Holds an Alto easily, and equally larger Tenor sax as well. A stand you can easily have confidence in, and comes with a nice bag, too.

    Highly recommend!
