    Quality? Reliability?
I remember when Hitachi Travelstar drives had this characteristics, unfortunately NO more.
This peace of junk lasted 3 months on my babied thinkpad t400, (never leaves home, use it sitting down on my sofa on top of a logitech laptop cooler) for Gods sake! I have the original T400 drive installed on a 2nd drive bay (3 years old) and drive works as new, never given me any problem.
I lost all my information, drive buzzes, does not turn, cant be recognized on any of my laptops, not on 3 of my external
enclosures. basically my data is bye bye.
NEVER AGAIN, DO NOT PURCHASE, go with other brands, probably not WD ether since this guys purchased Hitachi drive division.
By the way Im not a novice in this matter, Im IBM and Microsoft certified, Im very very angry and frustrated.

I needed this size disk to replace the failing unit in a friends’ laptop. I was able to clone the original unit to the new one, and it’s working well..
The only downside is that the the mfg date on the unit is from 2013 …. Perhaps that explains the low cost … but the upside is that it’s working.

So far, so good! I ordered this for a failed drive in a Toshiba Satellite. It was a little smaller but it doesn’t flop around in there. It fired right up, was immediately recognized, and I installed the OS with no issues. No hiccups or data loss to date, so I’m pretty happy with it, especially for the price.

So far, so good. Been running a few days now with no issues. Replaced a failed drive in a Dell XPS laptop, installed Windows 10, and everything’s running fine. Perfect fit. No sign of anything previously installed (no existing partitions, etc). Quiet. Didn’t do any benchmarks but would say it’s as fast as my 7200rpm desktop drive (booting and loading apps). Seems faster than most 5400rpm laptop drives I’ve encountered.

On this laptop the drive sits under the (plastic) top cover, just left of the touchpad. After running a few hours the laptop surface there was only SLIGHTLY warmer than the other side. So there doesn’t seem to be any heat issues. That’s also the side where the exhaust port is, so any extra heat may not even be related to the drive.

Very pleased so far. A 7200rpm drive for less than many 5400rpm drives – can’t beat that.

Arrived in a anti-static bag in addition to a huge layer of bubble wrap. On top of that it was placed in a small 4X5″ sturdy cardboard box. Double checked the drive using SMART app and found no errors. Drive was OK. Production date was listed as JUL 13 which is still not bad for a quality and hew HDD.

Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. Note that drive seemed slightly slower than my Toshiba 320, 5400rpm drive by a millisecond when searching the web. Otherwise, not a problem since HGST are the highest rated and most reliable drives along with Toshiba. I rather sacrifice a little speed for superior reliability any time.

Bought this 2.5 in. mechanical drive as a back-up tool for my internal SSD. I connected it via SATA/USB 3.0 adapter, and Windows 10 Pro immediately recognized the drive. I used Macrium Reflect (free edition) software to complete the back up/clone of my 240GB SSD. The clone process took about an hour (surprisingly quick considering it’s a mechanical drive). This was a great purchase for under $32 compared to an SSD drive w/same capacity costing 4 – 5 times that price.
