It is quiet on the lowest setting and louder on the higher, the fan makes more noise.

When we moved into our new apartment, it was predictably filthy and filled with dust (seems like all less-than-luxury properties skip cleaning entirely these days). My daughter has asthma and allergies, so we always run air purifiers. I got this new one for her room and put her older one (similar model) in the living room.
The air purifier seems to be the perfect size for her room. It has made a huge difference in the amount of dust that lands on the surfaces in her room. It has different modes ranging from quite to a little loud in sound; obviously the more cleaning it’s doing, the louder it is. We use the higher modes at night because they help her fall asleep.
Overall this air purifier produces consistent results. It also doesn’t put out any funny smells like some brands. I also like the tall, skinny design over a wider version because it takes less space up.

I like the design and quality of this filter unit. I have been using a Honeywell HPA300 for over 10 years in my bedroom and have found it to be reliable and capable. This tower version offers the same build quality and similar features. It is relatively quiet on low mode and gets progressively louder as you turn up to higher speeds. I find the noise it creates to be on par with similar filters and is fine for bedrooms and sleeping areas. I do like that you can add additional (optional) T filters for specific needs. The only thing I don’t like about this and other Honeywell filters is that they don’t make it easy to order replacement filters. I wish they had a specific multipack of filters that is specific each machine. I would like to be able to purchase several years worth of filters all at once. A bulk pack with savings would be great. I think a lot of people let their filters run longer than recommended just because it can be a bit of a hassle. 4 stars.

Over the past few years, I’ve been through a parade of HEPA Air Filters. What I’ve learned is this: Look for a good CADR number, look for a company that will be here next year and check the price of the replacement filters.
The CADR number is a measure of how much air the unit will move per unit of time. It’s an objective measurement. You can Google it if you want to know how to interpret it. Manufacturers can and do say anything they want about what size room the Filter is designed for but the CADR doesn’t lie. And if they don’t even tell you what the CADR is, then pass.
You also want to know that the manufacturer didn’t just leap into existence last week and might not be here next week. That would leave you high and dry as far as Warranty issues and Replacement Filters.
And lastly, make sure you can find the replacement filter on Amazon and see how much it costs. The filters in these things require periodic replacement but if you can’t find one or if it’s 3/4 of the price of the original unit then that’s another reason to pass it up.
To me, this Honeywell HPA175B passes all three tests. The only negative worth mentioning is that at its max speed it is a little loud. I don’t mind the white noise because it’s in my bedroom and it helps me sleep but others may not feel that way.

Fans stopped working within a year of the purchase. Support isn’t even thru Honeywell. This is sad.

I have had Honeywell air purifiers in the past and some have been a bit loud, this one has a distinct fan sound on high, but generally, on a lower setting, it is very quiet. I suspect this is not designed for bedrooms and more for living areas. I keep it near our dog crate behind the sofa to catch extra hound odors. I watch TV on the sofa and the sound of it behind me is never noticed. The living room feels and smells fresh even tho it is challenged every day by pets and farm life.
The last large room Honeywell air purifier I had had majorly expensive filters, and then they discontinued making the replacement filters, so my machine had to be disposed of. From what I can see the main filter for this Honeywell is around 10 bucks each. This also has a prefilter I didn’t go and look for those but that would be an added expense. I never replace when the unit tells me, I replace when I decide they need it. Of course, this hasn’t been here long enough to need replacement filters but wanted to give the heads up to really consider the filter replacement costs and availability when shopping for a purifier. it’s kinda like buying that dream car and then finding out what the insurance will cost on it later and like a second car payment.
It is very sleek and attractive and looks great.

The air cleaner arrived very securly packed. I mention this because it’s becoming rare to receive this level of care. Once I got it out of box, I only had to remove the wrapper from the filters and it was ready to go. Just plug it in. No assembly required.
I am using this air purifier in a bedroom that is just a little over 200 sq. ft. It is replacing a 7-year old Holmes that is reliable but extremely noisey.
This Honeywell unit has three speeds – high, medium, and low. High and medium make a significant amount of noise compared to other air purifiers I have in my home. Low is quiet enough for me to sleep with, but my husband finds it annoying.
This is a very basic unit. I am disappointed that it does not have an auto setting, as that is where I run my other cleaners. This is the first one I’ve seen without it. Also, there is no timer, and no remote. It doesn’t use an app, but I consider that a positive.
For the price, 208 dollars at the time of my review, I was expecting more. I am torn between 3 and 4 stars. The unit works fine, but is not a good value. You are paying for the brand name, and hopefully the quality that stands behind it.
