Ingenuity Baby Base 2-in-1 Booster Seat – Mist

I had the Bumbo seat for my middle child & I loved it. I didn’t love the price, or how they get so dingy& discolored after a while. I looked at the Upseat as well, as it’s supposed to be “better” for baby’s posture. However, the price of that seat didn’t make sense to me, as my daughter would really only be in the seat to eat or for other short periods of time.
I decided to try this one& I’m glad I did.

It comes in a couple pieces that snap together. Once you press down pretty firmly, it’ll all snap together relatively easily. (FYI, there are pieces that should Not be taken apart after you put them together.)

All in all, I’m happy with my purchase. For the price, this is a great little chair.

+Pros+
PORTABILITY: It’s lightweight & I love being able to toss this in the backseat to go to a relative’s, or move it to the dining room so she can eat with us, or set it on the kitchen counter while we’re cooking.

TRAY: It’s so easy to remove the tray& being able to slide it in the bottom is a super convenient feature!

SUPPORT: She is at the age where she sits with support. The seat provides enough support so babies won’t topple forward or sideways if they can’t quite sit alone yet. The size of the seat is great for younger babies (she began using at 5 Mos& is now 6 Mos) but I can tell she will be able to use this seat for a long time!

SAFETY: It’s made well so I feel comfortable setting her up on the table or counter without being worried about her falling out of it or tipping it over. The bottom is wide enough that it doesn’t allow the seat to be tipped over if the baby leans in any direction. Also, the bottom is lined with a material that grips slippery surfaces, so it can’t slide around.
The seat belt is also useful.

-Cons-
CLEANING: Honestly, I almost put this in the “pros” group because the tray is so easy to wipe down, even dried baby food comes right off. The seat is also easy to wipe down. However, I’m not a fan of the crevices/little nooks& crannies the seat has, since it comes in pieces to be assembled. Once you put the seat together, certain sections are not supposed to be taken apart again. My bf didn’t know this and apparently snapped a small piece when he took it completely apart to clean it. It didn’t affect the way it functions, but if the seat comes in sections, it should allow them to be taken apart again so you can clean.
Also, the padded lining isn’t connected as well as I’d like- I feel like it lifts up from the back too far. I wish it had been completely flush against the plastic part to feel sturdier & to prevent food& such from getting underneath it.
Babies get food EVERYWHERE, so those little crevices are frustrating to me, especially after having the Bumbo that is just one solid chair.
This is why I took a star off, but overall, it’s a good purchase.

I like the size of this chair. It was perfect for starting my 5/6 month old on solids. The highchair I got from my baby shower is on the bigger side but this one is just perfect. I love that I can use it on the dinner table chairs. I sometimes use it on my kitchen island when I am with my baby. It feels very secure. It is easy to take apart and clean all of the surfaces which is really important because babies spill food everywhere. I love that the back comes off and when she gets bigger we can use it at a booster seat. Another bonus it helped my baby’s core strength and balancing skills after a week of using this chair she was sitting up for longer periods of time completely unassisted.

Nice and compact for travel or storage, the tray fits under the chair, very sturdy yet comfy for my 6 month old baby. Had a hardtime finding right chair to introduce foods and have her be comfortable and secure. This was a win! And great price. Definitely recommend

Updstw: Have now been using it for 4 years and still going strong!

We added one of these to our baby registry after a suggestion from a friend. Used it since baby 1 was about 4 months to practice sitting and it was incredibly supportive and fit the baby very well for that purpose. Then used it as a high chair when baby 1 started solids, and now have it permanently attached to a dining room chair for everything from meals to having a place to secure the toddler for finger painting and crafts. We removed the insert when the toddler got bigger and it was a very easy transition. Ordered a 2nd chair for baby 2. We love that the tray tucks under the chair for storage, and that the chair is just the right height with our dining table and chairs to be pushed up against the table so the toddler can easily eat with the family (the tray is more for snacks or very small bowls, it’s too narrow for a even a plate). Have not traveled with it yet thanks to the timing of having kids and COVID, but have moved it around to different places in the house over time and it packs up easily and is light weight. My only frustration over the past 2 years has been cleaning it thoroughly. It wipes easily which is great for finger paints and crafts and the baby purees and generally keeping things surface clean, but crumbs from things like bread get between the cracks where the straps come up and accumulate inside over time. You absolutely can take the entire chair apart and either put it in the dishwasher or hand wash it like we do, but getting it fully disassembled is not easy. It’s also incredibly tough to clean the insides of the part where the tray slides into the chair. This probably isn’t a big deal for people who use this chair occasionally, but for our daily use as a high chair with a messy toddler it’s an annoyance. That being said, we do completely disassemble the chair to clean it and wash the straps in the washing machine about every other month and the one we’ve been using for 2 years is still as sturdy and stable as the one we just bought for the 2nd kid. We’ve never had any parts break when we take it apart, and it goes back together really well. I HIGHLY recommend this chair.
