I upgrade from a Karcher 1500psi that started leaking oil after many years.
I bought the K5 thinking the induction motor would mean more power. We didn’t notice any increase in pressure even though this one was spec’ed at 2000psi.
The fourth time we were using this new one, the pressure suddenly drops and the motor starts cycling on and off.
Contacted support, worked through the flushing process, reconnected everything in stages and the power nozzle seems to have a blockage.
Even though I there is an inlet strainer, this blockage is my fault, not a manufacturing defect, and I have to pay for a new spray nozzle.

Third Karcher product. First two, a small pressure washer and a floor steam cleaner were as good as could be expected. Great German engineering and substantial build quality. I read the p.w. was built in Italy, but the label on the bottom says, as you would expect, made in China. The pressure is good, the wands are easy to use, simply connect the hose, turn on the water, relieve pressure and turn on and begin work. Came with TWO wands, a high pressure wand and an adjustable pressure wand. Both work very well, but the high pressure wand may be TOO powerful. That said, the unit came with the plastic front foot stabilizer plate cracked and then it promptly broke and fell off. I called Karcher and they sent me a replacement part, but then there was no way to replace it. So I called again, and much to my surprise Karcher offered free replacement of the entire P.W. Amazing. This is one of several companies who back up their products and I will continue to buy them for their quality, value and customer support.

I’ll start with the bad just to get it out there. The assembly instructions, especially for a seasoned mechanic, were a little tricky. Only because the illustrations were a little hard to see where parts were going on and how. Process of elimination and years of putting things together helped me, but could be challenging for others. Now the positives. The accessories all have a place to go on this unit. The two changeable wands, the hose adapter, and the soap tank, all stay with the pressure washer making it less likely you’ll misplace something. The wheels make it very easy to move as it is a little heavier than you’d thing by just looking at it. The hose reel makes storing very easy. Compared to the other Karcher pressure washer I had long ago, the addition of a power light on the GFI is hugely helpful. Makes it very easy to see if the GFI is supplying power or not without constantly pressing the test and reset button, trying to hear the click to see if it is on. The soap dispenser on this unit actually works as expected. Put the soap in the back, set the pressure to low/soft, adjust the flow rate of the soap, and you’re set. Works perfectly!

Item was well packaged, and arrived when expected. Works great; far reaching spray and lots of it – goes exactly where I want it with the wand, including the height on the truck cab, and the highest siding on the house. Excellent washer; everything packs away on deck, so I always know where the each piece is. Easy to move with the wheels. Have had other washers, but none compare with this one. Would definitely buy another. Recommend this product to anyone wanting a good washer for home.

Originally purchased as a gift four our neighbor as he liked our pressure washer, but didn’t have one himself.
Experienced an issue with the GFCI plug where the ground pin was bent during shipping. Contacted Kärcher and they shipped us an entire new pressure washer as this was a safety issue and deemed un-repairable.
We got to keep the “Broken” as well as the new one. Simply cut off the GFCI and wired on a plain 120V outlet. We have a GFCI on our outdoor outlet already, so the built in GFCI is just for safety on Kärcher’s end to ensure no one gets injured using their product.
Other than the issue outlined above, that was corrected by Kärcher, the pressure washer works beautifully. The turbo brush works very well for cleaning mats, carpets, and the driveway. The hose reel is very very convenient, I hate touching a dirty wet hose, and this is so much easier than wrapping it up and hanging it by hand. No reel for the electrical plug though, would be a great touch.
Otherwise this is one of the best electrical pressure washers money can buy.

La ocupo para lavar los coches, las bicis, la cochera, la entrada de la casa etc. el equipo es buenísimo, se siente de muy buena calidad a pesar de ser bastante grande, es cómodo de transportar, lo único malo, la lanza vario, siento que pierde demasiada presión, la lanza que trae para lavar pisos, la diferencia de presión es enorme, tuve otra máquina que la lanza vario era más potente, aparte de que la lanza vario que viene con esta máquina la siento de mala calidad, lo demás es excelente.

Be sure you keep your expectations realistic. I replaced my 10+ year old 2100psi 2GPM gasoline pressure washer with this 2000psi 1.4GPM Karcher K5 expecting it to be similar in power. It’s not.
They are up front that it’s 0.6 gallons per minute less. My fault for not grasping how much less that really is…the GPM is what really counts.
Don’t get me wrong, it works really nice for washing the cars with the variable nozzle, and the turbo nozzle is nice too for blowing the dirt off the walkway. I just cant imagine it doing very well with things like cleaning the algae off the siding on the north end of my house and tougher stuff like that.
The good part though… is I don’t have to worry about accidentally harming the finish on my cars softer plastic bits and I’m not worried about my wife being able to use it with ease.
It is really nice, and Electric is so easy .. no pulling the cord 5-10 times, no gas cans, no oil changes, no treating fuel for the winter… just hook up the hose, plug in the power, and wash.
This is a really nice, feature rich unit that feels high quality.
It would have been nice if they provided a hose that isn’t so stiff…It’s not the plastic junk that some come with, but it’s also not the more flexible stuff like expensive units. It doesn’t come off the reel easy, and as the curves stay in it when its not taught, you gotta be careful around the car as it doesn’t just lay on the ground and can spring up and hit the car while you are moving around. Still ok… just a gripe I have.
I do recommend this unit for general home use and car washing.

The K5 Premium works very well once you start cleaning. However, given the price of the poor design and extremely poor quality of the garden hose connector and the hose drum make the start and end of the using the machine very painful:
(1) the extremely poor garden hose connector broke after one use (see pictures). Will try to get Kracher to replace the part but given the very poor quality of the plastic part I do not expect it to last. Note: rather than providing solid brass parts given the price of the K5, Kracher charges $10 for the “Kracher 9.154-009.0 Pressure Washer Garden Hose Connector 3/4″ a part that should have been included with the machine versus the very poor quality garden hose connector.
(2) the hose drum crank very very difficult to operate and feels like it is going to break; I use using both hands to reel in the pressure hose and still find it difficult to understand what were they thinking when they decided the drum was as described “very easy”. Tried silicone lubricants to ease the cranking force required to turn the drum without success.
I gave the K5 three stars because the pressure washing capability. If I consider the whole package two stars would be more appropriate for Karcher’s decision to mass produce and include very poor quality attachments rendering the machine not user friendly to start and finish the pressure washing process.
After two years, the K5 Premium started leaking and after searching for the root cause I discovered defective “form seal” and Karcher 9.075-072.0 Housing and Pressure Controller. Just passed the two years mark hence no warranty.
