This has made my car life easier and safer. Android Auto is seemless and makes following maps and listening to music simple. Only note is to override the park brake wire by hooking it to the ground otherwise there is no way to use the Android Auto while driving. You would have to be stopped with e-brake on which is just silly. The display is clear and easy to navigate. The buttons are sensitive to touch which for some people this is good but if you have larger fingers it could be difficult.
Overall I love this head unit, I am a faithful kenwood user and for the price this was a good purchase that will make any older model car updated with new technology. Easy to install if you know what you are doing. If you are not sure how to install YouTube is always helpful.

First Kenwood head unit. I’m usually a pioneer fan for headunits, but I was very happy with switching. The adjustable audio function are amazing. Kenwood put some thought into these units. If you like fine tuning your audio this will be perfect. Also the screen is crisp, touch control is flawless. Bluetooth connection is seamless. The android play is pretty cool.

Things I don’t like – android and apple play needs wire connection. 10 seconds to device to connect and start playing once you start vehicle.

The media could not be loaded.

Mostly unhappy because while it can connect to mobile device wirelessly via bluetooth, it will not do carplay wirelessly. You must plug into USB cable. Considering the $87 chinese stereos can do wirelessly. It’s very lame $500 more with Kenwood wont afford you that feature.

Nice interface, latency on input isn’t bad, feels ok, marginally slower than smartphone but not an issue. Faster than Chinese interfaces.

This stereo has caused me a headache. The volume randomly turns up all the way while I’m driving very often. Like every 10 seconds. Good way to blow your speaker/subs. The buttons are laggy to the point where you press next track, and it takes about 3 seconds to register. You want to skip ahead 10 songs? takes about 30 seconds to do so and good luck with the touch screen that has too many un unnecessary buttons close together. You try to press a button and next thing you know you’re in the screen to choose another phone to connect to. Volume buttons are also touch and very small. Every time I come to a red light i have to tap tap tap tap to run the music down very slowly instead of just turning a volume knob which takes a split second. The other older Kenwood in my other car is great, which is why I bought this one, but never again. learned my lesson. Seriously look elsewhere for a stereo!

I bought this to replace an older Kenwood I installed in my Corvette several years ago. After doing months of research, I decided on going with one that did not have GPS/Maps built in and choose this one. I am not a professional installer, however, I have installed a dozen or more stereos in various vehicles. That being said, here are some of the issues I found with this one:
    1) Android Drive is a disappointment. The interface is slow and lacking in some areas. The slowness I contribute to this head unit. Where I find it lacking is when trying to use the Spotify app; you can control some of the features, but you cannot start/stop songs or got the next/previous one; you must use your connected device to this. I tried using the three different devices with the same results.
    2) Slow response. Whren you want to change between functions (from bluetooth to radio, from current screen to setup, etc.), there is a significant lag. I installed a different model Kenwood in my Camaro and the response is almost immediate when you press a ‘button’; with this one you have to wait.
    3) Only One Bluetooth device. You can only connect one bluetooth device at time. I use a dedicated MP3 with Spotify for all my music and like to simultaenoulsy have it, along with my phone connected to the stereo during road trips. The units im my other vehicles all allow for this; however, this one does not.
Overall, the sound quality is good and, if all you are looking for is basic functionality, this is a decent head unit.

We replaced the radio UVO system with this new unit. Everything works! I also bought an harness for it to work the Kia Sportage sx model. The only matter is to get the specific harness to work with your car make and model with specifics for your onboard instruments. Be sure to order the right thing. I baught an harness that said 100% compatible with my car make but 2 features weren’t available so I had to improvise.

I replaced a factory head unit with this and paired it with a wireless android auto dongle and everything works great. The USB port is in the back side so you can hide a wireless dongle behind the dash and have the same functionality as a more expensive reciever for significantly less money. Sound quality is great and the UI is easy to use. The only complaint I have is that the touch screen does lag a tiny bit.

I installed this myself with minimal experience doing this type of work. Had a couple head scratching moments but figured it out. Overall I am extremely pleased with this product and will buy another one should the need arise. The only thing to consider when installing is that Apple Play only works when plugged into the USB on the back of the unit. If it’s your intention to use this feature you’ll need to figure out how to get the USB plug accessible.

Upgraded my 2012 Nissan Altima stock radio with this one and it is amazing. There was plenty of info on YouTube about the car and the stereo that, for the first time, I was comfortable installing my own car audio. Having CarPlay is amazing. I also just got the SyncKid iPhone Wireless CarPlay Adaptor and that is a great addition — you don’t even have to take your phone out of your pocket when you get in the car. I highly recommend that one if you’re going to upgrade your stereo to have CarPlay.

Only downside is that the FM radio is not great and there are some stations that I used to be able to get that I no longer get. HOWEVER, most of them have their own apps and you can put that on CarPlay and just listen through the app, so not taking a star away for that.
