This is by far one of my most favorite fantasy reads, not just this year, but all time. Leia Stone really knows how to keep a reader guessing while giving them just enough angst to keep them interested. I can’t thank her enough for how Amazing a read it was. The story was definitely a favorite of mine. The idea of taking all the available and fertile women of the kingdom to become the queen???? Without making it a competition?? WONDERFUL! Nothing against a little competition, but this focused more on him and why he made the decisions he made. The characters, I could kiss them(if they were real of course). The Dragon King is brave, smart, hopeful, and romantic, but he’s also willing to listen to others and just do what he wants as a King. I felt he did take a little bit of a back step whenever big decisions needed to be made that had to do with just him, so I was a little disappointed in him then. But our heroine is by far the saving character of the book. She is BRAVE, TRUE TO HERSELF, OUTSPOKEN, and JUST LOVELY! She wants to be a woman without being known for just having children……can’t say I blame her, but she stands up for everything she wants and even gets stuff she didn’t say out loud was her goal. All in all, this is the AMAZING start to a series that can and will stand the test of time, at least in my books, can’t wait to read the next one!

I would give the story five stars, but unfortunately, the quality of the writing is disappointing. It’s painfully obvious that this book has not been professionally edited. In addition to lots of grammar errors and typos, there are many (many, many) minor inconsistencies and discrepancies that show up on almost every page. I like the characters and was drawn into their problems and adventures, but it wasn’t worth the constant annoyance of so many little mistakes and oversights in the writing. I won’t be reading any more books in this series.

Light, with fantasy and with a little romance just what you need for a light afternoon.
The story is easy to understand, you can picture It quickly but in some ocations was really fast losing the oportunity to develop certain parts of the story.

Leia is an amazing author. The first book was kind of sad. Hopefully everything turns out great

Gostei de tudo. Narrativa fluída, o fluxo de ação contínuo, a química do casal de protagonista, a trama bem amarrada. Fantasia perfeita.

I love losing myself in a Leia Stone world, and The Last Dragon King: Kings of Avalier is no exception.

This read has a slight Cinderella reimagining feel to it. The king must find a new wife at once, and he sets out to visit each village in his kingdom. Coming upon Cinder Village, he chances upon a young hunter, a woman, carrying her kill upon her shoulders back to her home. He is instantly intrigued.

That young woman, Arwen, is blissfully unaware of the interest in her. She wants for nothing more than to care and provide for her mother and sister, kiss the boy in the village who has captured her interest, settle down and perhaps have a family, and happiness, of her own.

Their meeting leads us to a tale of secrets. Long ago battles and wars. Tragedy and loss, duty and honor before self. It’s a much deeper and darker story than finding the right person. It’s very much a story of self discovery and sacrifice for both Arwen and Drae.

As with all of Ms Stone’s stories, the world building is imaginative, detailed and interesting, with a mix of old and new technologies, and the ancient powers that battle them.

As this is the first in a series, the next kings are named. Their heroine’s are not. But bread crumbs give us some indication of the men we’ll be reading about in upcoming books.

For me, this is a 4.5 star read. Top notch world building, interesting characters, attraction but no real steam except for the wedding night, which was very light. Trigger warnings for loss and infant death. Overall, an excellent read, and one I recommend for the fantasy reader.

Just did a marathon of this 4-book series and I am one tremendously satisfied and happy reader! As a series of interconnected standalones, every book brings you to a blissful happy-ending-for-now such that you are not frustrated with a terrible cliffhanger, and keeps you invested in continuing the rest of the series so you can eventually reach the end and find the heartwarming ever after for all the characters. Each book had its own unique plot that kept you hooked all throughout. Every character, too, was a delight to me because of their unique personalities, powers, struggles, and achievements. The male main characters were all swoon-worthy alpha heroes who did not hesitate to grovel to their loves, and the female main characters were all badass, sassy heroines. The world-building was amazing. The stories’ pace riveting enough that I felt disappointed putting the books down. Every pivotal scene was depicted masterfully that you could feel clearly the emotions being conveyed and visualize the scenes that were being described. The whole series was just addicting that I was actually sad it finally came to an end. What a magnificent series this truly was.

Thoroughly enjoyed these books, fantastical beings, magic, romance, a little bit sexy. What else could you want! I was captivated by the world of Avalier and my only complaint is that I finished them all too quickly 🙂 but I’ve swiftly moved on to some of the author’s other amazing works to help with the cravings.

Loved this!! Arwen is a girl from a small town who is just enjoying small town life. Until the dragon king,Drae, comes sniffing around (literally) for a new wife. The king needs an heir or the fate of his people is at risk, the problem is he has lost several now because it takes a special woman to be able to carry his children. A magical woman. Arwen thinks she’s not magical at all until she gets a shocking confession from her mother. Now she and another young lady from her small town have been taken to Jade City to compete for the kings affection, but she doesn’t want it. Or does she?

This book gives us magic, adventure, and a strong FMC. Let’s not forget the broody, Dragon shifter king (he falls first btw).
This world is so rich with magic and history and is beautifully written. I want to live in this world and I wish the book was longer. But I lived for this HEA! Highly recommend this one.
