Quite good for the price. Sturdy, easy to tune, good-quality skins. They sound quite good. One can buy better (and more expensive) LP bongos, but I’m basically just a recreational user and they suit me very well.

Well made bongo and also like the finished look on both shells although they looked black on the picture is more like a dark burgundy finish which I liked even better. Would definitely recommend

I received these today and coming from a different set of LP CP bongos, the difference in tone and build quality is night and day! That’s not even mentioning the difference in feel of the tuning rods when playing the bongos between your legs. The others were shaped a little different, and it caused me leg pain and fatigue… But these sit much better, and having a larger diameter and thicker (I’m guessing) skins give off a much richer sound. They definitely don’t sound like toy bongos 💯 Maybe not as rich as Hildago’s (YouTube Hildalgo and bongos) but that guy could make a trash can sound good and musical LoL
    I’d definitely recommend these

I love the sound of percussion instruments and decided to try a set of LP bongo’s for the fun of it and I do love them. They were not that easy for me to play between my legs in the Latin style so I play them on a bongo stand. It is well worth the effort of learning the instrument. I use them with a drum machine to help me keep time on the bongo’s but a metronome would also help. Also I have found plenty of helpful videos on You tube. I just wish I had 4 hands so I could play Guitar and bongo’s at the same time. Maybe I should also buy a looper? or find a bandmate!

Bought this for rhythm practice (I’m a keyboardist) so not expert in “bongo construction” (would love to be an expert in that). But these are heavy (I mean, they really are, in your lap), incredibly solid, and have lovely tone across the entire surface of the bongos. Very responsive, and a pleasure to play. These are also well-reviewed on various percussionist websites. Obviously not the cream of the handmade crop (think $1,000), but I don’t see how you could go wrong buying these as a starter set … one you might never need to upgrade.

btw folks, be advised: these do NOT weigh 2 lbs, more like 9 lbs. In other words, this is not really a “lap instrument,” and is certainly not a toy.

Not only is it beautifully finished, the wood working and chrome workmanship is excellent. For my level of playing this set will last me a lifetime. The cowhide heads are on the mellow side so you will not get a G6 on the macho, but then I do not need to go that high. I have mine tuned to G5 on the macho and C4 on the hembra.
    Hope this was helpful.

Having no other ones to compare to, I can only say that I find these to be very well-constructed & sound good to me. The ones I bought were open-box or used & quite a bit cheaper. I’m happy with them. I originally bought another LP set, also used. When I loosened the lugs, I could see there was a split stave. If you’re buying anything that’s a return, be sure to check out everything. I’m sure Amazon didn’t realize it was damaged. I returned it, no questions asked & got the Aspires, which are perfect. They’re pretty heavy, so I’ll be getting a seated stand instead of playing them in the traditional way of holding them between the legs.

These are excellent bongos in terms of sound and build quality, as would be expected from a company like LP.

However, beginners should be careful when choosing an instrument like this. Factors that need to be considered are the size and weight of the drums if you are thinking about playing them in the traditional seated position. These are large and heavy – the Siam oak making a considerable contribution to the weight factor. If you’re not a big person (whatever “big” may mean to you) you may find it difficult to hold the drums between your knees. Of course, you could purchase a stand which would solve the problem but add to the cost. To avoid this scenario you may want to go to a music store first and try out different drums to see what is most comfortable for you. Just something to think about.

Arrived quickly and well packaged. These bongos are a good starter set just need to tune to your liking and begin playing. The size is exactly as stated in the description and very well-made. Recommend it as a starter set.
