I use the LP Bongo Cajon for recording, and of course for practice. There is a surprising amount of difference in pitch between the high- and low-pitched parts. Overall the tone is similar to bongos pitched slightly higher than average. I detect little to no difference in the overall sound when I play them on my lap versus between the knees, so 90% of the time I set them on my lap. It’s so versatile I can manipulate the sound through the use of knuckles, individual fingers, playing on the edges versus the centers of the high and low sections, and “muting” with one hand while striking with the other. I don’t play bongos loudly, but those who do should take note of reviews and articles that address the impact of hitting wood hard with bare hands.

I’m not convinced that these are the BEST SOUNDING cajon bongos on the market. They are, I believe, the BEST VALUE. Predictably, you could find a better sound if you were willing to pay for it, but you’d likely have to spend double the price of these LP’s (see Meinl’s cajon bongos). That said, my LP’s certainly don’t sound bad. In fact, I love ’em! They’re one heck of a lotta fun to play. What’s more, they’re ergonomically designed, sturdily constructed and highly portable. They look good, too. Though some reviewers claim they’re made of plastic, it’s not true. The wooden shells are coated with what appears to be a moisture- and scratch-resistant coating. If you are on a budget or just starting out, these cajon bongos are a good choice. Don’t neglect to check them out on YouTube. A tip: If you wish to practice more quietly, set the drums on a carpet while you play. Lastly, “cajon” means “box” in spanish, not “testicle”, as some are apt to surmise. 😉

This bongo Cajon I bought for my Dad for Christmas. Upon arrival I checked it out and liked it so much I was a little sad to give it away! My Dad really liked it to. The Sound is good, a little on the quiet side. Design is sturdy. It is angled perfectly so it fits between your legs comfortably, and the short sides of it have like a grippy texture that help you hold onto it with your legs. It even comes with a little draw string bag, though simple and not padded this was a nice little bonus that prevents against scratching!

Nothing will beat real bongo drums but this cajón bongo has a great sound to it. My Drum teacher loved it when I brought it to him. It has great grip on the sides so you can place between your knees and not worry about slipping. You can even place these on your lap and will still sound nice. Was looking for something lightweight o carry for travel 🧳 and still have great sound and this is the winner
