A great tambourine. I use it with an LP Gajate bracket to play with a foot pedal, and it fit into that setup seamlessly. I particularly love the brass jingles – they give the tambourine a darker and dryer sound that I find extremely desirable.

I’ve had several set tambourines fall apart — not in LP’s house they don’t!

I have Two LP Cyclops mountable tambourines: The one with the steel jingles (LP160) and this one with the non-dimpled brass jingles (LP175). I have used them professionally for years and think they’re both great. Really sturdy, trustworthy, and easy-to-use mounting device, and the sound of each is just right – not too harsh and just the right amount of decay on the jingles for drum set work across all sorts of genres. The plastic body does not clang too much when hit with a stick – you mostly hear a short, percussive jingle, and very little attack from the stick on the plastic. The brass jingles (LP175) sound a little warmer and slightly trashier (my preference), while the steel jingles (LP160) sound a little brighter and sharper. By far my favorite mountable tambourine for drum set.

Works like it should

This tambourine holds very securely to whatever rod it is mounted to, hi-hat rods included. It doesn’t have to be mounted in order to be used, but it certainly isn’t as comfortable to hold as is one with a handle.
I keep a collection of tambourines on hand in order to find the right tone for the song. The rawness of brass tambourines are great when looking for a more classical or “old-world” sound. This tambourine doesn’t really have a top or bottom, so it can be mounted either way, which comes in handy if having to mount it in a hurry of under dim lighting. Though I have yet to experience any damage, I wish that the striking edges of the tambourine had some sort of guard in place to prevent wear on the frame itself when striking it with a stick.
