My new AIO did not come with a DVD Drive so I picked this up. Very good price and works well. Just a bit noisy on system boot up and when initially putting in a disc.

El equipo se anuncia como nuevo pero es “REFABRICADO” funciona a medias, es lento y mecanismo no funciona muy bien al insertar el disco.

Old reviews said it is necessary to force the dvds into the device by fingers. Mine nicely sucks the dvds into the chamber after I push it in about 3/4ths of the way. It also ejects it nicely. It is a plug and play device. I downloaded the VLC media player free – found it on the Internet. To get it to work I needed to deal with the fact that I had bought a Lenovo computer that was inexpensive and had a Windows 10 mode S version of Windows. That version attempts to force you to buy the Microsoft media player for $15. But Microsoft gives instructions how to cancel the mode S. See comments on Reddit about the VLC player for help. The useful comment is a sub-comment to a posted comment so click down to it. LG has done a good job in designing this player. It looks nice and has a small footprint. I would buy it again. I cannot tell you how long it will last as I only bought it recently.

Amazingly thin but simple to use. I have had many “plug and pray” experiences in the past, so am happy to say that this installation and start-up was virtually idiot-proof. Yes, as some have reported, the insertion of a disk can be a bit tedious (lower to the table top than a standard drawer-type drive). On the plus side, though, it is lighter, and less clunky-looking (if that even matters), as there is no door and tray mechanism to deal with. I have experienced previous drive failures when trays stop opening/closing on command, so this drive system seems more simple and with fewer moving parts to wear/breakdown.
As for reading and playing disks, we tried a variety of disks (recorded and pre-recorded), and so far all have inserted, played, and ejected as expected. Reading and playback have been flawless to date. To be fair, I have not yet had occasion to use disks in all supposedly compatible formats; however, for what we use/need, this drive fills the bill. Finally, while looks are not everything, this drive is sleek, and with a nice brushed nickel silver finish that is completely compatible with out laptop. Yes, it does come in other finishes, just be sure of the specific model/part number when ordering.
All this said, if you have one of the newer laptop computers which lack an optical drive, and you have a library of needed disks, then this LG unit is a viable solution, and its cost and reviews make it an easy choice.

The DVD burner works great! I’m on my second one, the first one died after about a year. Now let me explain that I had burned roughly 100+ DVD’s on it in that time. I would have hoped that it would last longer but it didn’t. I tried others but none came close to the quality of this one. I’ve purchased a multi DVD copier so this unit won’t have to work so hard. Hope it lady me a while.

As a few people have noticed in this listing (Reviews), the seller(s) are putting a “VOID IF REMOVED” foil sticker over the product label and specifically covering up the serial number portion. Then on the cardboard box, they use a Sharpie to cover the serial number and associated bar code to render them partially unreadable. I decided to remove the “Void” sticker and discovered the serial number on the unit and the serial number on the box do not match. My product does work (so far) and it is more of a concern that the items are not authentic or for some reason being switched out of the boxes. Be aware of this when you purchase.
For me, I have a previous one of these and bought a second one for my office computer, so I would not have to transport one. I believe the unit performs well and on a Windows 10 PC/Laptop they both do very well with no driver install or any issues. Just plug and Play. I hope this was helpful.

My new PC doesn’t have a disc drive, so I bought this to be able to read or burn CDs. I originally bought two of the $17 CD/DVD units here on Amazon. Both were junk. The first one arrived DOA. The second one (a different brand) played 5 songs and then quit. Both were returned. I decided that since this was more money and was a known brand, that it might be better. It is. I plugged it into the USB port of my Windows 10 PC. It was recognized immediately and I started using it right away, literally within 45 seconds of plugging it in for the first time. So far, I’ve read 15 CDs of my wife’s to burn to a flash drive and it has worked flawlessly. I also like the fact that it doesn’t have a moving disc drawer. Just insert the disc into the slot and the machine grabs it and pulls it in. The old adage of “you get what you pay for” once again holds true. Skip the low-priced junk and buy this one instead.

Great product. Works as advertised.

With most new laptops no longer featuring CD/DVD RW/R drives anymore, if you have discs you need to access, you’re going to need a good external drive, and after trying two others, this seems to be the best of those I’ve tried. They all pretty much have the same features, so the only real difference maker is the quality of the drive, and even that is pretty similar since the manufacturers pretty much use the same parts a well, so I went with LG since they’ve a lot of experience with both disc devices and low form, sleek electronic devices. They’re all pretty similar in features and pieces, so go with who you feel comfortable with. LG has not disappointed me.

Sorry but your product doesn’t work, wish it had.
