Works well and added a few things to it
Ed McCaulley –
Excellent kayak. I couldn’t ask for more.

Great product and price. Pretty stable, and easy to maneuver on the water. Easy to load in pickup at 51# and fits in a shortbed pickup way better than my canoe. Great for a quick fishing trip to small lakes close by.
My only problem after using it twice is getting stood up after fishing and sitting flat on my butt for a couple hours. Younger folks should have no problem there…

Nice size, stable, light weight

There are more video reviews of this kayak on Youtube than I can count. All say it is worth the money you pay for it, providing you do not pay more than it’s retail price of around $300. I would agree, it is quite stable , making it a good fishing kayak. Almost everything in life is tradeoff and this is no difference, the wide width is great for stability and fishing, but does make this kayak harder to paddle than a longer narrower kayak. The Tamarack being stable and a sit on top Kayak also makes me feel better about my wife and son using it for recreation.
The kayak arrived wrapped really well, which protected the it from any damage. While I was happy I did experience any of the damage other reviewers mention, I was disappointed the seat had been removed, leaving four small hole in its place. I covered the small holes with tape and ordered a stadium seat to put in that spot. The seat fit fine and I am sure it is much more comfortable (the back rest is removable), but I still lowed my rating by one star for the missing seat.

Easy to carry around and stable in water.

5stars for the kayak. 1 or 0 stars for the delivery.
Delivery was 2 weeks late and arrived with no packing box for protection – only loosely attached bubble wrap. As a result the front of the kayak was damaged and dented in quite a bit. I started to return it, but didn’t want to wait another 2 months for arrival, so I managed to get most of the dent out with a blowdryer and some pressure.
The product itself is great! I’m 6’5″ 200lbs and this kayak is super comfortable and easy to use. Love all the extras like storage and straps – and comes with an oar that can be feathered.
Highly recommend the kayak.

The seat needs to be replaced as the one that comes with it tore within three outings. Otherwise this is a great beginner Kayak. For 20 bucks I replaced the seat with a Walmart stadium seat and it’s perfect. How to replace the seat is easy just search YouTube.

There were a lot of reviews on you tube and various Yak sites for this Lifetime Kayak. The general consensus seemed to be that it is a beginner novice kayak. I reviewed several dozen kayaks before ordering the Lifetime and overall the only advantage with a $750 – $1,000 vessel is a better seat and adjustable foot rests. I transitioned from a sit inside that I made very useable but it was lacking in many areas.
I have had the new SOT Lifetime out 3 times to date. I generally fish in a river but tried it on the lake today to see how it works in waves and boat wakes. I couldn’t be happier with its overall performance. Extremely stable, tracks straight, lightweight, fast enough for my needs and holds all my tackle and gear. The waves on the lake were not an issue at all on a windy day. On the river it does no feel to fragile to scrape over rocks and gravel. I tried standing up just to see if I could and it was stable enough to feel comfortable.
If you want to pay more for a cool paint job, a heavier boat and a stadium adjustable seat go right ahead. Or get the no bells and whistles Lifetime Angler and upgrade it according to your personal needs. An anchor trolley, milk crate, cushion PFD and some additional rod holders and you’ve got an extremely functional fishing vessel. Besides it’s more fun to customize and make it your own.

This is a great Kayak. I have used other kayaks in the past, but not a fishing kayak. This is very stable and I have used it in choppy water. The kayak tracks well, and is fast for big wide flat fishing kayak. You wont be winning any races, but you will be able to maintain a trolling speed. Just like any sit on kayak you’re going to get a little wet, even with scrubber plugs. Your butt is gonna get wet. I understand other people are upgrading the seat with a stadium seat, but the factory setup is sufficient for me anyways, who knows maybe i’ll also upgrade. I did add an anchor, and trolley system, and really makes this an even better fishing vessel. There are some no motor lakes, streams, and rivers and this thing will float 200ibs in just a few inches of water!! I do like small personal boats, as you can get into some places that most people wouldn’t be able to fish from either shore, or in a bigger motor boat.
The paddle that came with it is pretty flimsy, and short. So order yourself a longer “fishing Paddle” that has a retrieval hook to help you unsnag your line.
This Kayak is pretty light, and easy for one person to manage. I also have a 15ft canoe that weighs more than twice as much, so on solo trips i go for this Kayak!! I just strap it down on top of my SUV by myself. I believe the Kayak weights about 50ibs.
