I can’t imagine how hard it was to travel west in search for a better life. Naomi’s story was one of endurance, pain, heartache and most of all love â¤ï¸. Enjoyed the story. Was slow at times but ended beautifully.

I think I did the novel a little injustice by trying to read it through a major transition over the last few weeks, only being able to read a chapter before sleep about every other night. This made it feel a little slow-paced, but not to my disliking. The slow-burn was a nice change of pace for me. However, I was able to read the last 60% in just a few good chunks, finally able to dive in during the faster pace half of the book. The author does a wonderful job of bringing the characters, the setting, and the times to life. This is definitely one that didn’t cause any huge amounts of sobbing, but didn’t need to in order to have a lasting impression. This point in time is such a pivotal moment in our nations’ history and it was brought to life with both respect and colorful vision. Thoroughly enjoyed. This book definitely got me over a pretty good slump of a book hangover! Highly recommend.

4.5âï¸ Where the Lost Wander is an incredible story of heart, endurance, strength, courage, and so much more. Naomi is a vibrant young woman who has a light about her and is strength personified. John is a gentle and kind soul, who is also troubled from walking in two worlds, both the white mans and his mother’s native land. Their stories are interwoven in a tapestry of grit, compassion, determination, heartbreak, love, and an appreciation for all the paths that life brings.

In the 1860s, covered wagons pulled by teams of oxen or mules made their way across the Oregon Trail for two thousand miles between St. Joseph, Missouri and California. They carried thousands of pioneers with their dreams for better lives. For months on end, they endured oppressive heat, deep snow, torrential rains, and threats of diseases and Indian attacks. Author Amy Harmon has crafted a fine historical fiction novel which chronicles their struggles and their triumphs. She crafted all of the main characters after true life Indians and pioneers, ancestors of her own husband.

Mule trader John Lowry’s dream was to establish a thriving business in California. He brought with him his finest stock. Talented portrait artist and 19-year-old widow Naomi May was on the trail with her father, her pregnant mother, and her three brothers. Altogether, forty families from Missouri paid experienced guide Grant Abbott to lead their wagons and their livestock safely across the plains.

In turn, the Indians were depicted either as cruel savages or as thoughtful, reasonable men. Since he was half white, half Pawnee Indian, John walked the line between both worlds. His knowledge of the Pawnee and Shoshoni languages and his understanding of their culture and rituals facilitated communications. His relationship with widely respected Shoshoni Chief Washakie and his wife Hanabi was forged when he saved their baby from drowning in a rushing river. John and Naomi shared an undeniable mutual attraction. Against the backdrop of the wide-open plains, the book is filled with adventure, adversity, and romance which becomes more heartfelt as chapters pass. Evenly paced, well written, and highly recommended.

“It’s worth it. The more you love, the more it hurts. But it’s worth it. It’s the only thing that is.â€

Where The Lost Wander is a Heartbreakingly beautiful love story filled with culture, hope, loss, adventure, grief, strength and survival. It’s the story of people who chose to leave everything behind on the search for a better life in the west in the 1850’s. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster. The unforgettable characters were fantastic. Naomi “Many Faces†May was so strong and inspiring. John “Two Feet†Lowry was just such a beautiful soul. I absolutely loved the May brothers and each and every relationship in the story. The description of the atmosphere was amazing, Amy made me feel like I was on that Oregon trail right next to them. It made me appreciate my life a little more.

Très beau roman immersif. Les personnages sont puissants et attachants, leur histoire est touchante et profonde. Amy Harmon est une valeur sûre, j’ai déjà lu 6 ou 7 de ses romans, qui m’ont tous charmée.

Sometimes, I have no words to describe a book I loved so much. And after finishing this book, I couldn’t describe it.This book is in his own class, and has his own place in my heart. In addition, the book entered the list of the best books I read this year.
For me, reading a book “twice” is like I’ll be abroad right now, but, it happens to me once in while… The last book that made me want to read it twice was four months ago. What does it mean? It’s hard for me to disconnect from this book because it’s so good that it left a mark on my heart. It’s hard for me to move on to the next book, and I want to start it again as soon as I’m done because I don’t want to leave it. And I’m even happier that this happened to me with the author I love the most and admire her, her writing and her courage to write these books.

Our journey begins in 1853 in the US.
Naomi has never seen herself become a widow at the age of 20. The family embraces and supports her. Especially her mom. She sees her mother as a role model and admire her, She sees her as a smart, great woman, a figure to live by.

    🛶 “ð“¦ð“±ð“ªð“½ ð“±ð“¸ð“¹ð“® ð“¯ð“®ð“®ð“µð“¼ ð“µð“²ð“´ð“®: ð“½ð“±ð“® ð“«ð“®ð“¼ð“½ ð“ªð“²ð“» ð“®ð“¿ð“®ð“» ð“«ð“»ð“®ð“ªð“½ð“±ð“®ð“ ð“ªð“¯ð“½ð“®ð“» ð“½ð“±ð“® ð”€ð“¸ð“»ð“¼ð“½ ð“¯ð“ªð“µð“µ ð“®ð“¿ð“®ð“» ð“½ð“ªð“´ð“®ð“·. ð“˜ð“½ ð“±ð“¾ð“»ð“½ð“¼.” 🛶

Throughout the book, I came across situations that Naomi has made and she is simply amazing . To see her develop and grow to face all kinds of people who see her only as ‘widow of…’ and not as Naomi. It hurt me. And I’ve always felt as part of a side character who just wants to talk to Naomi and say “you’re strongâ€.

When her family decides to start moving elsewhere in the direction of California, she finds herself in a journey of life and death. Joy and sadness. Disasters and quarrels But, she never expected that on this journey she would fall in love again.

John is a man who has always lived in both worlds. He was always in the middle of those worlds. He is half white on his father’s side and half Indian on his mother’s side.

    🂠“ð“˜ð“½ ð“²ð“¼. ð“˜ð“½ ð“²ð“¼ ð“½ð“±ð“® ð“¼ð“¾ð“¯ð“¯ð“®ð“»ð“²ð“·ð“° ð“¸ð“¯ ð“µð“¸ð“¿ð“®. ð“”ð“¿ð“®ð“»ð”‚ ð“¹ð“ªð“»ð“®ð“·ð“½ ð“¯ð“®ð“®ð“µð“¼ ð“²ð“½. ð“˜ð“½ ð“²ð“¼ ð“½ð“±ð“® ð“¼ð“¾ð“¯ð“¯ð“®ð“»ð“²ð“·ð“° ð“¸ð“¯ ð“«ð“®ð“²ð“·ð“° ð“¾ð“·ð“ªð“«ð“µð“® ð“½ð“¸ ð“¼ð“±ð“²ð“®ð“µð“ ð“¸ð“» ð“¼ð“ªð“¿ð“®. ð“˜ð“½’𓼠ð“·ð“¸ð“½ ð“µð“¸ð“¿ð“® ð“²ð“¯ ð“²ð“½ ð“±ð“¾ð“»ð“½ð“¼. ” ðŸ‚

John’s character has been through a lot. Try to imagine what it is like to have two worlds and live in them simultaneously. He has undergone a process of change, of acceptance. And the feeling of what it’s like to be in love. Because he never knew ‘true love’ for a woman before . â¤

As he joins the journey to California, he meets Naomi with her red hair and bright green eyes. And he slowly begins to discover things about himself. Their journey taught them how to get to know each other together, And the two want to build a life together for themselves.

But, when they get attacked in the middle of the journey. The families get separated, And Naomi sees John disappearing in front of her eyes the promise that they promised themselves was going to fade away. They will not be able to be together again. They could not live the life they wanted.

These two taught me some things. How to internalize one another, what it is like to know each other, and how to reconcile with who you are. Because that’s who you are.

In conclusion , the story was unusual . John and Naomi captivated my heart so much that I just found myself at the end of the book reading once more from the start to enjoy it again. I kept sections for myself to remember them forever. Knowing that Amy’s book is over, for me, is one of the most painful things. Her writing is unlike any other writer. She manages to convey to me something that no other writer can do. The story is combined with suspense and romance, And one journey. About self-learning and about ourselves, all diffrenet kind of pain and giving, and sometimes the pain is the one being buried with us. A magical book, with a romanctic story that just made my heart beat every single line. â¤
