sherry a karstens –
I loved this life story about Gilda Radner. I watched the Not Ready for Prime Time Players on SNL, when I was in high school. This brings back wonderful, happy memories. I love Gilda ❤️

This movie touched my heart, it showed a real slice of life in the 70’s, the story of a woman seeking to have her voice heard and to be loved….she used her gift of humor to bring healing and joy to so many people and most poignant was that she used her own humor to get her through the awful cancer that took her life. The SNL clips and the manner the story was told of Gilda’s life was oh so tender and funny. Kudos 5 star review!! The celebs in the movie added a layer of honor and immortality to Gilda’s legacy not to mention the cancer survivor support through Gilda’s Clubs founded by Gene Wilder- Gilda’s true love.

A brilliant look back at the amazing career & life of Gilda Radner.

A must for Gilda fans. So many intimate home movies from family and friends, her voice. I have read her book over and over and read the one by Zweibel, I think, and there was so much in this I had never seen.
It is not a documentary. It is her voice throughout and mostly very flattering things about her that are sympathetic to her. I suspect she and Wilder were both highly narcissistic, their marriage seemed very problematic, etc. and there’s no discussion of that. Also no discussion of her mother, whom she seemed to have a very problematic relationship with, etc. But I knew all this going in, so I had low expectations.

Though I read her book ages ago, it was wonderful to revisit this heart-warming story of a talented lady who make the most of life… the good… and the less good!
RoseAnne –
A top drawer discussion, life footage chronologically, from birth through childhood, teen years, figuring out what she wanted and who she was, to realizing faults, weaknesses along with strengths. What a comprehensive look into a very interesting woman’s life well lived. Gilda Radner was quite the dynamic woman and leader very well displayed in this short film. Love it.
MICHELLE GOUIN –
All went as expected and smoothly with order.

This is a nicely put together documentary, with great stylistic flourishes and a lot of footage involving intimate diaries, friends, comedy, love, and death. You might tear up near the end. I wasn’t big with SNL as I was very young during her peak years, but Gilda does seem like a lot of fun. Most might not even know about her battle with ovarian cancer and the later period with Gene Wilder. The director does a fine job of putting this into a cohesive whole.

Seeing footage and reading self-comments by someone that we enjoyed years ago is always a treat and this is no exception. Provides some glimpses into Gilda’s inner personality, and the root of her comic creativity. Tells us things about her behind-the-curtain social life, and her budding romantic relationships. The interviews were with people who really knew her very well and they are very honest. A nice informative and enjoyable bio of a woman whose career was cut short way too early. Makes you wonder what she would have evolved into had she survived.

I was 14 and a New Yorker when Saturday Night Live premiered. I never missed a show, even after all these years. Gilda was my inspiration to become an improvisational comedian and eventually write my own one woman shows. I had some real success Off-Broadway with autobiographical comedy, but I never got famous. I’m glad because I’m old now and I think fame can kill you. This film shows us the pressure, the loneliness and cost of fame and makes us laugh at the same time. Great film, very touched by her story, her courage and her talent. Out of great pain, comes great comedy. We miss you Gilda, thanks for the laughs.
