This item is great for having a quick snappy snare sound. Keep in mind this is not really intended for maraca type use because of the shape, but works best when it’s “snapped” like a firm tap of the finger on your knee or instrument. I use it to add some more high end to my cajon (usually on the middle finger for the snare taps) and it works perfectly.

i bought this as a guitar player looking to augment the sound i can produce during solo shows which is admittedly not the intended purpose of these units so remember that my comments do keep this in mind.
if used for its intended purpose, i think this would be super awesome. it does what it says it does, shakes on the downward stroke and not on the up stroke and if used on hands playing drums it fits reasonably comfortably.
since i’m playing guitar and the unit does not make much noise at all if you shake it side to side i have to turn it so the broad side rests on the side of my finger. this is not super comfortable and i generally switch between using it on my index finger and thumb a few times during the course of a 2 hour show.
the sound it produces is pretty quiet and gets drowned out by an only modestly amplified acoustic guitar. this could be remedied by mic-ing the guitar rather than using the pick-up but…
bottom line, i reviewed this through the lens of my demented purposes in case anyone else had a similar idea. my verdict, good not great but i have yet to find a better alternative.
I would guess that if used within the confines of the original design specifications it would shine.

Love this high pitched shaker. Great with microphone use. Fast response to rhythm changes. Better in pairs.
Gorfus Horribulus –
This is a truly great innovation for hand percussionists.
While the claim that it eliminates “ghost” sounds isn’t 100% accurate, it is easily the best way to incorporate additional sounds for a hand percussionist. The ghost sounds are not very pronounced – you’d have to develop your own technique to use it in a studio situation, but when you’re live, this thing rocks!
Overall, great sound, great idea, well designed and above all it’s a fun addition to a percussionists arsenal. Offers tremendous potential for finger-style percussionists and works great when attached to your sticks/mallets/brushes!

I thought I was getting a pair when I ordered. Elastic fits awkwardly on the finger.not much sound is produced from the tiny little block.
Batero Argento –
I can’t imagine playing my cajon live without these things on. I always keep a spare pair in my case. After a gig, someone came and said “You sounded like two people”, and that is exactly the effect. Practice a little bit, and the possibilities are endless. And they totally cut through the mix.
Just have in mind, these are NOT shakers, they are called shots because they only produce sound on one side when you shake them, so you can create a hi hat effect, in different forms depending on how you play them. They are comfortable, and they last about 20 three hour gigs. (More than a pair of drumsticks). I am on my third pair. They are truly amazing, there is not one gig that I don’t get questions or compliments on them.

Works as a good accompaniment when Drumming, and it gives more depth to the sound
