I have a 2018 Impala with the 3.6 Liter V6 and automatic transmission. I DON’T use the recommended AC Delco Dexron -VI Automatic Transmission Fluid. At 33,000 miles, I had my transmission flushed at a Valvoline Oil Change dealer and they replaced the stock automatic transmission fluid with their Valvoline transmission fluid product. Wow – did that transmission run quieter and shift better! After that experience, I started draining and replacing my transmission fluid with Mobil 1 Automatic Transmission fluid AND mixing in two bottles of the Lucas Oil 10441 Automatic Transmission Fluid Conditioner. My transmission from that point on has always run much quieter and shifted much better. Car now has almost 90,000 miles on it. I use Lucas products including the Octane Booster, the Synthetic Oil Conditioner and the Fuel Injector Cleaner because I believe these products really do work as advertised and provide good value for the money. If you are worried about voiding your factory warranty – you should ONLY use the fluids specified in your Owner’s Manual and have them changed by a qualified professional (and get a receipt to prove you had the work done). Be aware there were numerous articles published that indicated that General Motors had done a deal with Mobil 1, to use Mobil1 products as “First Fill” products (in other words – from the factory).

a really brilliant additive , my 2006 Volvo was having gear changing problems that a fluid change made no improvement on , but adding this made all gear shifts so much smoother with no nasty surprises

I like most products I have tried from Lucas. I have a 2015 Camry 2.5l non hybrid that at about 120k miles I noticed the first few gears would shift a little harder especially when the transmission wasn’t to temp yet. The torque converter seemed to be running a little rougher. (you could feel it in the gas pedal when accelerating and when at a steady speed.) This is a known issue with this transmission as well. To give some detail I have changed the filter and fluid every 30k miles in this car. Toyota didn’t include a dipstick so in order to do the drain and fill correctly you have to put a little extra in it, bring the transmission to temp 104-110 degree F. Then drain until it trickles. Normally you only need about 3 quarts to accomplish this. Knowing that there is about 3.5 more quarts in the transmission I decided I would try this but use 2 quarts of this. I drained the oil, changed the filter and put 2 quarts of Lucas in it, then put 2 quarts of my premium trans fluid from a reliable manufacturer. Then I brought the transmission to temp, and drained to a trickle to make sure that the transmission had the proper amount of fluid in it. I immediately noticed improved shifting especially in the lower gears. The next day when it was totally cold I notice improved shifting especially in the lower gears again. Fast forward to 1000 miles later and I can’t believe how smooth the transmission is shifting in all gears at all temps, and there is no roughness in the torque converter at all! It’s back to how the car was when I first got it. I am probably going to use 2 bottles of ATF and 1 bottle of Lucas at every 30k now because I am sold on this product like the other Lucas products I have used.

I’m not usually a fan of transmission fluid treatments, never have been. Transmissions are the most complex and precision pieces of mechanical wizardry on a vehicle, and they are rather particular of what you feed them. I’ve always used strait ATF of the proper type and a quality brand with regular fluid and filter changes. I decided to try this stuff for a couple of reasons. One I just bought a used 3/4 ton with around 160,000 miles on it with the original transmission. It has been serviced as the fluid looks good, but it’s a little lazy on shifts and just not a smooth as it should be. I read a ton of reviews before pulling the trigger on this and as they were almost universally positive, I figured it could not hurt. I bought the truck right, and at that mileage on a hauling truck, if I nuke a transmission, I’ll put one in. I would also trust a Lucas Oil product before any others as I have always had extremely good success with everything Lucas and they do one thing, they make oils and additives, meaning they know what they are doing.

I did a complete fluid flush and filter change. This was made easy since the truck has a aux cooler in the front, just pop the QD lines off and add some 3′ hoses (since you cannot be certain of which is supply and return, less risk of mess) into a 5 gal bucket. 4 gallons of Dexron 6 later and we have a transmission full of fresh fluid. I have not yet driven the truck any distance real, but after adding the treatment and letting it get all mixed into the system, I can already tell that things feel better, it goes into gear faster and smoother for sure. I expect this will continue to improve as I drive more and the additive continues to permeate the system.

    Update:
I have to admit, the skeptic in me has been proven wrong with this stuff. I’ve put over 1,000 miles on the truck since flushing the transmission and adding this treatment. Most of this driving has been towing a trailer too. All of the shifts are much firmer than they were before, the 2-3 shift used to be very lazy but now it’s snappy, like it should be. Down-shifts and up-shifts are all feeling better. Does not feel like a tranny with 160,000 miles on it at all. I will be adding this stuff at every fluid change, which I do far more often than the manual says.

The manual says 100,000 miles for transmission servicing, with Dexron 3, it’s more like 30,000 miles max in my experience if you want to have a transmission left at 100k. With Dexron 6, probably more like 50,000-60,000 miles or so, not positive since this is the first go round with Dexron 6 in one of my vehicles. Towing a lot always decreases the fluid life, so best advice I can give is to monitor the fluid condition carefully, and change it when you have any significant darkening and before it starts to burn. Fluid isn’t cheap anymore, but it’s a lot cheaper than a transmission…

This stuff will not fix a transmission with a serious issue, treatments cannot fox broken parts or excessive wear. What this stuff does do is recondition seals and friction discs, this will fix minor slippage due to age and normal wear, it will also fix the lazy shifts caused by worn friction discs. For the price, it’s certainly worth a shot, but don’t knock it because it does not help you, this is designed to help transmissions that are still fully functional.

    Update 2:
7,500 miles in and things are still smooth as silk.

    Update 3:
10,000+ miles in and the transmission feels almost a smooth and solid as it did when new (I did not have this truck new, but I’ve driven a lot of them with varying mileage). Fluid is still bright red and not showing any signs of breakdown, which is what I’d expect at this point. Like I said earlier, I’m not a fan of most pour in “fixes”, but this one really does work, assuming your transmission is still in working order. Even if it does nothing, it’s a cheap attempt.

My car felt like the transmission was gone and it immediately brought smooth shifting back. I just drained
a quart out and poured this in. Cannot recommend enough.

I add a little to the transmission when the 1-2 shift gets harsh. It seems to free up the 1-2 shift valve.

I did a fluid flush & new filter then added this Lucas additive on my 4L60e with over 100k miles with no issues and this product definitely improved my shifting and the transmission overall is operating much smoother!
