Seller sold the black beauty snare to me for a good price and they gave me two refunds as the price was lowered and the snare sounds great I was wanting one of these snares for a while and I took advantage of a good price plus a good quality snare I changed batter head to an reverse dot but the original bottom snare head I had to reinstall due to the way the thinner snare side head that I purchased sounded I’m still in the process of fine tuning the snare but all the tuning ranges sound well and swell but it is a project

I have been wanting one for a long time. Finally got one, it is worth every penny. You can clearly see that they put a lot of effort to make this drum, the appearance is beautiful. The sound matches the looks, right out of the box. It is the most versatile drum I ever played. love it!!!! Those of you thinking about getting one. I know they are expensive. But well worth the money .

When I was ordering this snare drum, my biggest worry was whether a $600 drum would really bring that much more to the table than a $300 drum. In this case, it does. My 6 1/2 X 14 finally arrived and I immediately changed the batter head over to a Remo Ambassador coated. My stick never touched the stock head because I just didn’t want to hear it that way. I tightened the new head to what I assumed would be about a medium tension and whacked it with a 5B. WOW!!! I couldn’t believe how I could feel it in my gut while hearing that perfect ring with no bad overtones. My beloved other brand copper shell drum sounds like a pile of dog poo beside this awesome drum. Honestly you don’t need tube lugs or die cast hoops for this thing to rock your world. It’s among the most recorded and most famous snare drums in existence, and there’s a good reason why… Because it’s the best. It’s expensive because the process to make the shell is time consuming and costs a lot. That’s why other drums just don’t come close to sounding like the Black Beauty – No other drum is really made like it. On that note, and to make things even better, it’s made in the USA in Monroe, North Carolina. If you’re on the fence between this one and another, please do yourself a favor and buy the Black Beauty, even if you have to save up for a while. This is the dream drum that you keep for life and hand down to the next generation. I’m going to go play some more now.

Amazing, classic sound. Not one bad thing to say about this drum. Everyone in the band loved it and chose it.
I will add that I bought the less expensive DW Collector’s Series Black Nickel Over Brass and with the same heads and same snare wires, tuned to the same pitch, none of us could tell the difference between the DW and the Black Beauty. I ended up selling the Black Beauty and going with the DW.

I’ve been playing for 37 yrs and never owned a black beauty snare.
I’ve owned many other snares over the years and
after just getting this 14×6.5 10 lug black beauty,
I m totally blown away!
It sounds and feels incredible to play at all tunings! It’s incredibly responsive to the lightest touch and the volume head room on this is very huge. You want to play loud and it will be loud where most snares start to choke when it hard , this drum hangs in there!
People complain about the throw off and I get it be because it’s not some fancy modern contraption but, it’s really not bad at all and it’s very smooth! Also , the throw off that is on it is now thw P88 version which is much better and very smooth. They must have changed it on newer drums.
I’m extremely happy with this snare drum .
Can’t believe I waited so long to grab one .
The drum I received directly from Amazon was in pristine brand new condition.
I took off the heads so not to use the stock one and the drum and edges were perfect.
Drum came in a brand new box .
Inside the drum was very well packed and in side a cloth protection type bag .
Highly recommend!

First off change the top head, batter head and snare, and will shine like nothing ever before it. The problem i have is why such cheap heads and snare, if price is so high ? its almost like we have you by the balls now, and will still cheap out. They could afford it at this price to add some better skins and snare. But over all its amazing sound will blow you away.
