Got it today and tested: it does not drive any nails; it misfires all the time. Maybe I got a defective item? I decide to return it for replacement. This review will be updated when I get a replacement. I love Amazon Prime defective item replacement policy – it just works! Review update: few days later received replacement Makita Finish Nailer, seems like it is working fine. So, this mean that Makita has some quality control issues. I have put around 300 nails size 2 1/2″ – only one time was misfire. Also noticed that gun will stop working when all nails are used except the last 7 nails in magazine. I also noticed that the dial for regulating nails head deepness is not working very well: I have dialed it all the way to the limit to drive nail’s head as deep as possible into the wood but still have some nails with head above the wood panel’s surface, so I must use a small hammer to put those nails heads down, not sure, but this could be another Makita quality control issue (there is a label on a tool “made in Japan” LOL), but I decided to keep the second Makita Finish Nailer. This Nailer is perfect for a small job but it is no way that it will replace my Senco Finish Nailer.

it doesn’t set the nails deep enough as is suppose to. hope others see this and there’s works better. not impressed as all my cordless tools are Makita .
He knows –
So I see so many bad reviews and I’ll set you strait!! Don’t bother reading others moron reviews … they say it don’t set nails into words ha? Lol.. this gun sets nails into 2 1/2 sold oak.. what they are not telling you that they are using a 2.0 or 3.0 battery.. this gun will need a 4.0 or higher battery and then put some weight down on it just light any nail gun it’s weight alone just not enough! Makita made Japan is superior over any other brand .. if the gun said made in China we’ll that makita just not has good! So watch out for low cost makita tools might be from China .. order from official site pay a few dollars more so you know you got Japan .. Amazon is a hit and miss on this so far there nail guns all have been from Japan .. either gun will set nails just fine.. the – it is kinda big and heavy! Not great from Crown molding Lol arm get tired.. they also say the ramp up is super slow? Might take 1.5 to 2 second.. I been doing custom work for 25 years and each nail I set I want to be set just right so the gun always ready.. I’m not a guy that’s using the gun as a machine gun shooting nails across the room and not having fun because it’s not spitting out nails !! It’s built like a tank it will take a beating and last for years!! Battery 5.0 will last all day.. all there nail guns work great and I hope one day they make a 1/4 inch crown stable gun for stabling down particleboard for linoleum .. need that crown staple to hold it the wood tight to the floor!! Come on makita get on board make that 1/4 x2 inch stable gun!!

Perfect for quick trim work. Saves having to lug hoses and compressor to job.

Bought Jun 10th 2019. Have sent it to Makita Canada twice to repair. Only miss fires when held vertically then miss fires 30% of the nails. Makita’s reply direct quote “we think due to the safety settings”. Yes they said “we think” then just sent it back to me. They took so long to return I now can’t send it back. very frustrated.

This is the first finish nailer I’ve owned. I like the 18V Makita tools. It feels like a non-battery nailer. It is very hefty and powerful. Have used it with various length nails. I like the ability to adjust the force to keep the head from being proud of the surface or below the surface. It also includes a rubber foot cover to protect surfaces. This is not a light unit, but I’d rather have a heavy hefty unit to do the job and last a long time. Highly recommend.
Won’t shoot –
This gun is garbage I am so upset with this in doesn’t sink the nails in, even with a 5.0 batter fully charge brand new and still will not sink the nail. It only shoot half way. Gun turned up and down nothing helps I will be sending this back.

I have only ran two cull loads through this so far. Worked perfectly with pass load nails. I tried it upside down, since I saw complaints about that, no issues. I’m wondering if the people having problems are using off brand nails.

I used this to reattach trim boards after I re-screened my porch and it worked perfectly. Like the other review mentioned, but quality nails without excessive glue and you never have an issue. Very high build quality on this nailer and I would recommend it to my friends if they use Makita.

I have not used it yet – just a couple of shots to test it and it seems to work great

Worst tool ever.
Does not work at all. Everyone that I have spoken to all said the same thing, “it does not work straight out of the box!!!”
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
I recycled the box upon opening, took the tool to work to find out it does not work and now the box is gone. Amazon complete failure.

Doesn’t shoot off nails
Sent back for repairs and it still doesn’t work.
I’m now dealing with shipping this none functioning tool back and forth for nail jamming.
The support from the company feels like they are mocking me.
Have a recording of the the nailing shooting off 6 nails but only 3 work.
Don’t purchase this product

Installed 525 square feet of tongue and groove 3/4 ceiling and 400 square feet of 5/8” shiplap with very few issues. I had a couple of nail that didn’t set all the way but that may have been due to my inexperience. I used 1-1/2 stainless steel nails since this was an outdoor project. It will last all day on a 5Ah battery. It is quite heavy with the battery and nails so I would recommend a sturdy tool belt to hang it on when you need both hands. It is also loud so wear hearing protection.
