This is exactly what I needed. I wanted to lay out several sheets at once, with this I could do 4, with some additional hard card (the white card in the picture) I can extend it to get 6 sheets. With the additional accessories this is now a single music practice station. I can just lift it up and move it around the house without having to constantly arrange. This isn’t portable in any other sense, it’s heavy and bulky, however if you’re not dismantling it it’s fantastic. One accessories that was required for this setup was the one that stops the top moving down, that just locks it. That should really be included in the main package.

Needed as music stand for my Roland keyboard which has no integrated music rack. This is the wide version; the normal/typical standard Manhasset stand I had was too narrow to work with fold out scores. It is very solid. Right size, flat black color. Adjusted to right height. Would disassemble for storing and toting about, I suppose, but I don’t want to risk having the connections loosen up. That can really goof up a music stand. If it won’t hold music or stand up …

The musicians I work with were tickled pink when this arrived. Typical Manhasset quality that will last for years. This has a very wide desk so that one could have two three-ring binders open side by side. Enough space for open sheet music and run sheets & notes.

We bought this for our son to use at college with his electric keyboard, for his last year of college, while living in a townhouse. It was fantastic and he said it was easy to take apart after easy assembly. It fit perfectly behind his keyboard and held the sheet music well. Highly recommend for those who do not use technology to read music for keyboards.

I wanted a sturdy Music stand, but one where I had 3 pages of music in one line. Most music stands only do 2, i.e. opened book. This is capable of doing this and also has some space either side. I now do not have to worry about trying to turn the page which playing the Saxophone – Brilliant.

Just got this a week ago and I am generally delighted with it. One caveat. I read some of the other reviews and several people remarked that the shaft attached to the desktop would not remain extended if too much music or other weighty items were placed on it. Based on that analysis, I ordered the recommended Manhasset ShaftLock Model 2400. When it arrived, I attempted to install it, but it became very obvious that the design of the shaft lock is incompatible with the M51 music stand. There is a tiny slotted screw on the shaft lock which is supposed to be tightened to the extent that the shaft lock will bind to the black tube below. You can then turn the twist sleeve on the shaft lock left or right to raise/lower on the one hand or lock the chrome tube in place. Sadly, since the shaft lock does not bind to the lower black tube, the whole concept fails. It was annoying enough that the shaft lock had to be separately ordered and arrived several days later. It was even more annoying to waste the time trying to get it work. I called the Best Service Store phone number (the people who shipped the shaft lock), but they did not answer the phone or respond to a voice mail message. I then called Amazon and they quickly sent me a shipping label to return the item and I will receive a credit after it arrives.
As I nearly always play sitting down, it is not too disappointing that I cannot raise the desktop with any significant amount of weight on it. For that reason, I chose to give the unit 5 stars. It is a really a pleasure to use, having used a smaller stand for years. Someone who plays on their feet may well feel differently about the rating the product deserves…

Title pretty much says it all. I don’t like having to go search through my shelves or carefully take one book out and put another one back every time I want to switch what I’m working on – especially the stuff I’m using most of the time. This lets me leave a Real book out, a binder with songs I’m working on, along with some handwritten practice schedules and things I’ve clipped directly to the stand.
It also does hold four sheets, though you have to either overlap them a bit or leave them hanging over the edges. No big deal for me either way – loads better than my ‘normal’ stand, which I’ve moved to next to my desk where it just holds a copy of The Real Book for when I’m doing online chats and I know that’s the book that’s probably going to be used at some point.
I’ve got a ‘cup holder thing, that I can’t imagine using to hold a drink (you’d need to raise the stand super high to get it in and out easily) but it has two other square ‘boxes’ that hold my metronome, tuner, timer, some pencils, my nail clippers, capo, and all my picks as well as some other bits and bobs (string changing stuff – that goes in the ‘cup holder’ part).
That and a chair and I’m pretty much good to go for a full practice session without needing to keep moving to the bookcase to swap things in and out every fifteen minutes. If you’ve got your shelf somewhere near the stand, then you’re golden.

Great stands. A bit pricey, though. I have noticed that they have changed the design a bit. As a band teacher for 30 years I was used to tightening up loose stand by just hanging onto the bottom and twisting the shaft. With the new design you need to use a wrench.
