The more I tune this thing to different sound types, the more it impresses me. Definitely worth the $150 price tag. The bottom hoop was slightly uneven, but nothing too bad like some of the reviews I read. All in all, worth the price.

Absolutely fantastic tone. It came well packaged and even tuned! You would not be disappointed in this item, especially if you’re looking for a snare upgrade from something like a 5.5 – this drum has DEPTH. Not too much overtones, very well built, and the finish is beautiful. So beautiful. I contemplated buying a new drumhead as I ordered this as well, but decided to play chance and give benefit of the doubt to the stock remos which are actually a lot better than I anticipated

At first glance, this is a case of good bones. You’re not buying this drum because of the snare throw off, the heads it has, or the quality of the hoops.
You’re buying a big maple shell with some black hardware from a reputable drum manufacturer.
You expect to swap at least the batter head sooner than later, and probably the snare wires soon as well.
That said, you expect manufacturing quality to be a little bit better than these hoops that appear to have been malformed during manufacturing, and these snare wires of uneven length that are digging into the snare side head.
None of this looks to have happened in shipping as both the inner and outer boxes were perfect. This looks like a Mapex issue, and while I fully intended to replace some things on this snare, I thought the hoops would last for a long time. And didn’t think I would need a snare side head straight away.
That said, the seller is super responsive and is working on a replacement as I type this
Again, these are all Mapex issues. Seller has been super helpful.

Remember you get what you pay for.it’s a nice snare. i recommend to change out the heads bottom and top and the wiring after that it’ Sounds like the a $250 drum. But for reel sounds great good buy….

Mejor de lo que esperaba, hay que ponerle mejores parches y un mejor bordonero para sacarle todo el jugo a esta belleza, sonido profundo y grave.

Upon receiving the snare, I took some time to examine it. I noticed that the top rim came warped. The bottom rim is ok. The throw off switch is a bit cheap. Feels like I’m gonna break it off. The actual snare strap needs replacing immediately. I also replaced the stock heads with Evan’s drum heads. Overall, the snare sounds good and looks good for the price. I would recommend it to other players, but just make sure to upgrade the heads and snare strap.

I received the snare in a timely manner. The snare itself is cosmetically beautiful. The hardware is very good. The snare mechanism is a little flimsy but works fine. Replace the nylon washers with metal. Replace the snare head and put a wider snare on it. The sound I got from this snare is incredible. It’s warm and crisp. The snare has plenty of volume. The dynamics are great, you can p!ay at any volume and it responds without losing the feel of the song. Overall this is a great sounding snare.

You would have to change the head, I bet an Evans hydrolic would be perfect to suit the low tones. But after ya get a thicker batter side head it will sound great. Also goes well the the big fat snare drum ring. Amazing price, must have!! Huge maple deep snare, can’t go wrong.

I wanted a deep wood snare to fill out the collection and found this deal. 10 lug thin rims 6 ply (2 maple sandwiches betw birch) and nice looking. The 14×8 has nice low end wood often lacks and can be used as a tom when desired. Fine.
I reskinned the top with SD Dry and put a 40 wire strainer underneath lol. A moongel gets the tone tight and fat (a leather wallet would be even more 70’s) and it’s already played in quite well on the first day. I don’t think it needs new hoops and the throw is serviceable. If you have the room to store it it’s a great choice.

Excelente opción para una tarola profunda, realmente puedes combinarla con unos aros die cast para subirla de nivel, vale mucho la pena, gran opción, respecto al empaque viene en su caja de carton, muy bien.
