This book covers a very wide amount of information. It is huge. It has all the topics you can think of from injuries, first aid, emergency care, symptoms, WIC stuff, nutrition across the life span, different flu and how to prepare and prevent them, some anatomy and physiology, some biology, diseases and disorders, allergies, brains, eyes, medicine, and ETC ETC. There are too many to count. I mean, this covers everything except those crazy science parts like organic or biochemistry. This is an excellent resource for anyone. I call it the bible of health in the house.

This heavy book came in a massiv plastic bag with the corners riped and the cover as well!!!
I’ve been looking for this book long as I knew it’s a good one but I’m just disapointed with the package the book was in.
It was written – very good conditions…- but it was before they sent it!
I’m sending parcels all over the world but, when you send an heavy book, it needs to be packed properly!

This is a very helpful book on standard medical health care, all in one book. The format is clear, concise and attractively formatted. Perhaps the topics are not as in depth as one would like, but the articles are excellent summaries and overviews of important subjects. Every household should have this book.

This is for the individual who is interested in taking charge of their health along with their health care provider. I recommend this as very good reference book.

I have the previous edition and it has many flags where I have looked up specific information. It was from this book that I learned that finger joints could be replaced. I have now had four of mine replaced and those are free from pain. I bought the new edition for my son who tends to be paranoid and asks me questions.

I bought this book for my dad, who’s complaining about one medical malady or another. This is the third edition he’s used, and finds it to be informative, accurate, and comprehensive. It provides him with quick insight into his medical issues and whether or not he needs to see a doctor immediately, or discuss with the doctor at a later time. He’s comfortable with the information and is able to understand it. He uses it when his friends tell him of their medical conditions too. It’s NOT a substitute for a doctor’s examination, or a trip to the emergency room should conditions warrant, but it is a helpful guide that may provide more information than the doctor in this time-sensitive day and age where everyone is in a hurry.

I purchased the second edition more than 15 years ago in a book store, and have used it regularly. I decided to purchase the latest edition, and gave my old second edition to my niece who has two young children. This book (it’s quite thick and heavy) covers just about any medical condition, and in addition to an index, breaks up secections according to life stages (children 1-12, 13-17) young adults, middle age, advanced age etc. Easy to use and written by experts.
