Updated review…. Works great, terrific sound, both hand-held as well as on the foot… BUT…. the strap is under heavy strain if you wear a size 13 or bigger shoe, my strap tore after a few months as it’s only stapled on. Should be a velcro strap and not just elastic. Mine held up for about a year, then disintegrated over the course of a day, no warning, as the pins started to let go and jingles and wood layers began peeling off. And I don’t really play it that hard, honestly.

The price is attractive. If you’re going to buy one, as soon as you get it, apply some thin, penetrating super glue to the pin areas, and do that every couple months, might help it last longer. If I decide to get another of these, that’s what i’ll do. Bought the other Meinl shoe-top tambourine recently as a replacement for this, but though it uses a velcro strap, it doesn’t play as well or easy.

So far this has been great in rehearsal. We’ll see how it does in a performance. It’s not super loud but seems well built and works exactly as intended.

This is a nice foot tap Tamborine, but the little steel rods that hold the cymbals in place punched through the sides of the Tambo. Cheaply made. I had to reinforce them with superglue and duct tape. One thing I did discovers, was how nice they sound in the palm of your hand, where you can tap them with your other had. Very effective.

The elastic strap could be improved. It holds well right now but I think it wouldn’t hold up to alot of daily use over time. Well constructed durable plastic and good quality chimes. Big sound for a small unit. Sound quality is very good as well. They needed to find a better way to attach the strap to the plastic body (staples) which will probably let go with daily use

I love this and it’s plenty loud for my uses. My only complaint is that the elastic is snug and my feet are women’s size 9. ‘m surprised this didn’t have an adjustable strap like their foot shaker does but I can probably lace my shoe laces over it to secure it or make some other adaptation. Wonderful that it’s made in the USA and is well made.

It’s a mini tambourine. For your foot. It works great. I love it. I use this while playing the guitar. It’s loud enough that even when I am in a group of three (three voies, two guitars, a piano, and a bass drum), you can still distincly hear the Tambourine. It’s louder than what I thought it would be.
Still, it could have been a bit bigger. A third row of metal ching-chings (whatever you call them) would have been a nice addition.
My only complaint is that the strap to go around your foot is not big enough. I have fairly large feet (US 11 1/2) and there is no way it will go over my shoe. It fits okay on my feet themselves, but having to take off my shoes is a little annoying.

I’m one-third of a semi-pro acoustic trio and have tried to rig typical tambourines in ways that I could stomp or shake them while standing and playing a stringed instrument and ended up frustrated. This nifty and well designed foot tambourine is the answer! While you don’t get nearly as many jingles as with a standard tambourine, it’s small enough that it doesn’t flop around on your foot or have so much weight that it pulls you off balance! It gives just enough sound to be a nice background rhythm instrument.

The two toughest things about using one of these are:

    1. Despite having a pretty good sense of rhythm, it’s not as easy as you might think to stay precisely on beat with one of these as it is just tapping your foot.
    2. Don’t even think about stomping this thing at a rate of twice each four-beat bar — your leg will be exhausted halfway through the song!
