I went through a few different type of tambourines that attach to the hi-hat. This is the one. I can hit the hi-hat without any bleed of the tambourine. And then when I open the hat and go for that chick-chick sound on quarters or eighths, these tambourines add a well-balanced addition to the hi-hat sound. The metal rim coated in rubber-like plastic makes for a nice surface to hit for those tambourine accents should I want that sound as well.

Easy to install, makes a great sound, and durable. Since I got this I’ve been shocked at how many songs I play have at least some of this in them, and the sound of this instrument is exactly what I’m looking for.

Initially quite impressed, though a little quiet on hi hat press. The big let down was one of the pillars for the strike ring snapping after just 7 months of infrequent use, and I’m not a big hitter. Without the home made fix I did on it it would have been headed for the trash. Disappointed as have found Meinl gear durable and hard wearing previously. Maybe it was just a rogue weld but unwilling to test that by buying another….

Just about everything in Meinl’s Professional Series product line is going to meet the needs of the working musician, and this little gem is no exception. It is well built, compact (so out of the way), and functions exactly as it is meant to. Buying it with Amazon Prime FREE shipping made it a really good deal. 5-stars.

Most well made hi hat tambourine I’ve experienced to date. Doesn’t fall off the rod and none of the jingles have broken off.

Problem is, as noted by another customer, it will not make any jingle noise from the extra heavy jingles unless you hit it really hard or press the pedal ditto. I have also the lighter jingle version and that one is the opposite of this in this regard: jingles with only a light touch.

Not very loud. You have to really slam the pedal to get the desired sound
