When first powered on you might be given the impression this thing will be the loudest item in your network stack. But once it boots into its OS, it quiets down. I use this thing to switch four 10G SFP+ connections and a couple 1G SFP connections, and I don’t use its more sophisticated features. Once I physically installed it, I never had to touch it.

I have four other modern Mikrotik Switches that work great. I tried this one and it is not only as loud as a jet engine, it wouldn’t even function. I wanted some 1G ports but ah well. I’ll have to stick with my Mikrotik CRS309s (2) and 305s (2) that are exclusively 10G ports.

I bought this switch to add 10Gbit links between my router, two workstations, and my NAS. As a bonus, I’m now pulling an extra 200 Mbit out of my “gigabit” cable connection on the devices with a 10Gbit connection. (My Cable modem links to my router with a 2.5G WAN, and the 10G to the new switch.) The device was easy enough to configure, anyone with a basic level of networking experience would have an easy time. The switch ships with an AC adaptor though I’ve been fine using PoE. I’m not yet educated on every single feature of this device and I’m excited to learn.

Der Switch ist hat 4 10G SFP+ Ports und 5 1G SFP Ports sowie einen 1G ETH/PoE-fähigen Port.
Intern ist der Switch mit umfangreichen Funktionen ausgestattet und kann auch als Roter verwendet werden. OK, Anfänger werden wohl eher nicht glücklich werden mit diesem Switch, ist eben ein Switch für den professionellen Einsatz. Für diesen Zweck kann ich diesen Switch weiter empfehlen. Und auch ich werde mir noch einen Zweiten bestellen. Im Übrigen, ist dieser Switch auch für die Rack-Montage geeignet. Befestigungsmaterial wird mit geliefert. Wer diesen Switch direkt neben seinen Arbeitsplatz installieren will, wird schnell der kleine aber nervige Lüfter stören. Hier kann man den Gehäusedeckel abnehmen und mit einen großen aber leisen Lüfter für Kühlung sorgen, dann bleibt der kleine Lüfter aus. Das funktioniert deshalb, da der intern verbaute Lüfter temperaturgesteuert arbeitet.
