This is a WIRED only router with POE ports and one SFP. It’s fairly powerful, and routes almost 900Mbps with a modest set of rules. The POE worked perfectly for some point to point dish AP’s and you absolutely cannot beat the price on these devices considering their features.

I purchased this router due to its PoE feature. I’m using high quality Cat 7 to connect to access points. The cables are only 50 feet long but this router can’t drive the current. Also, now the web interface stopped working. The RouterOS is overly complex and doesn’t work well to do event simple things. Also, connectivity is not reliable at all.

Probably does what it should do but mind you this only puts out 24V, while a lot of e.g. CCTV cameras require somewhere around 30-50V

Very nice and stable router. It takes a little work to configure but is totally worth it. I had never used a mikrotik product before and wanted to check it out. The only part i struggled with was that it does not handle internal DNS out of the box. I found a script in the forums to set a static DNS entry for each dhcp lease and was good to go.

Just a heads-up; when you begin configuring the box, upgrade the firmware before you do anything else. Some of the changes to the pre-load settings wouldn’t stick. Upgraded firmware and everything worked perfectly.
Also, provisioning (h)APs with CAPsMAN is so awesome and makes putting (h)APs around your house so much easier when you don’t need to re-do wireless configurations on all of them.

This router was sold out everywhere in Australia and ETA were Jan 2023. I ordered it from Amazon US and it arrived within a week. It’s a small form factor router with big benefits. The supplied 24V power adaptor wouldn’t support PoE out, as the power isn’t enough, so I had to buy a PoE injector and ran the input ethernet through the injector, the output ports were then able to supply power to the access points connected. It has a very advanced interface and can be fully customised to suit the user’s needs. I’m not a tech guru so let the settings be as they were. I have a 250Mbps connection in Melbourne, Australia and when I run the speed test i’m always getting speeds at or around the 250Mbps mark. Overall a great product at a very good price!

Not a plug and play router. There are simple config walkthroughs for pretty good security, or you can use all your network admin knowledge to create a complex setup.

This is an awesome little router, and for the price, you can’t beat the features (GigabitEthernet, PoE, RouterOS L4, etc). The power supply brick is bigger than the router, which makes the compact quality of the MikroTik RouterBoard devices moot. Can be powered by a wall wart with 1.5A output instead of the huge power brick if you aren’t using all PoE interfaces.
