Took it out for a 1 night 7 mile backpack trip. I opened up the tent to split things up. Poles , stakes, ground sheet on my packs water bottle pocket and the main body and fly in the top compartment.

Not the lightest tent but it’s a roomy 2 person for a good price.

Setup was quick and easy, I laid out the footprint , attached the poles , clipped in the body and then the rain fly on top. Maybe 5 minutes solo.

The one downside is the stakes are questionable. There was hard soil so I placed a rock on my palm and pressed down into the stake , which unfortunately snapped it. Whoops.

Beyond that I am very happy with the tent. Materials feel solid. Zippers, straps and buckles didn’t snag or feel cheap. A couple of loose threads but nothing that would damage its durability. I have yet to test it in rain or wind , but from what I hear it holds strong. Looking forwards to more trips with it.

I purchased this Blue 15D nylon tent for our son to use for a Boy Scout trip to Philmont, NM. He was only supposed to use it for their first night prior to arriving on sight at base camp, and then he would switch to a camp issued tent. Well, he and a fellow Scout (tent buddies are required by Philmont) liked this tent so much that they opted to carry it and use it for their 10 nights on the trail!

They loved fact that it was lighter than the Philmont issued tents and that it packed up smaller. (Normally you split tent and poles up so each tent buddy carries some of the weight, but our son carried the entire thing the whole trek because it was so easy to carry.) He also liked that there were two doors, one on either side, which prevented the awkwardness of climbing over each other. Because of this, they also each had their own small vestibule for boots right outside their doors. The small hammock inside worked well to hold headlamps, etc. Both boys are about 6 feet tall and they were comfortable and both felt like they had enough room. It vented well so there wasn’t a lot of condensation buildup even though temps ranged from the upper 80s during the day to the mid 30s some nights. We did not add any water repellent prior to the trip and yet it repelled rain water and dew wonderfully. They appreciated that it came with its own ground cloth, which easily fit inside the carry sack with all of the other tent pieces. It held up well on a very demanding hike with set up and tear down each day in varying conditions. The bit of dust that it accumulated rinsed off easily with water and a sponge upon returning home.

Honestly, if I’d known the boys were going to use this tent their entire trip, I would have spent more for a name brand tent. Thinking they’d only use it for one night, I figure this one was ‘good enough’. Now, knowing what I know, this tent is up for any challenge! Save yourself some money and go with this tent!

Excellent quality, how is it this price? Biggest pros:

    – Symmetrical design, so there’s plenty of room at your feet. I’m 5’5″ and my husband is 6′ and we had room at our heads and feet. Sometimes 2 people really need a 3-person tent, but since this is symmetrical, there was plenty of space for us. We could fit our 65-pound pup too.
    – And, with a symmetrical design it was super easy to set up. One ground mat, big tent pole, one tent, one rain fly. Vestibules were large enough to fit our shoes and our packs on each side.
    – It’s a great weight and size for the price too. Fit really well in my Osprey 65L bag with plenty of extra space.
    – Has a couple of reflective strips that made it easier to locate at night.
    – Mesh “shelf” for above our heads held lots of extra things (flashlights, contact cases and solution, cell phones, battery charger, hand sanitizer, etc.) and there are additional pockets at the head and foot of the tent.
    – Tall enough interior/head room that it was pretty comfortable for changing clothes

Only con, it doesn’t include enough tent stakes for all the guy lines, but you can find similar stakes elsewhere. We haven’t needed extras yet.

I spent a great deal of time researching this tent alongside several other similar options and pulled the trigger a while back. Since that I’ve done a couple of overnights with several more coming up over the next 2-3 months, and I am happy to say I am confident in my shelter system thanks to the Mongar 2.

This is basically a knock off of the MSR Hubba Hubba, but at a much more affordable price. You do pick up a bit of weight (the Mongar is all in at about 4.5 lbs), but it really is worth it. I’ve seen many test runs in n horrible weather on YouTube, and my first run out we got hit by a pretty severe thunderstorm and I did not get a drop of moisture inside, and the structure took it like a champ. Thanks to the mesh body condensation is also not an issue.

I’d say the only “minus” might be the stakes; they are certainly better than those cheap rounded pegs you get in a lot of tents, but they still feel a little delicate. I haven’t bent one yet, but I do keep spares for my tarp set up close at hand just in case.

If you’re looking for an affordable, relatively light (but not ultralight light) tent, I’d definitely put this at the top of your list.

I bought this tent for motorcycle camping and portaging trips in canoe. So far I LOVE it! I have owned numerous tents over the years and absolutely love this one!
With my wife and I there is just enough room for our airmats and a few clothes. Other gear stays in vestibule or covered under a tarp which I’m fine with.
I haven’t tried it in the rain and possibly never will because I ALWAYS use a rainfly and have for 20+ years.
My theory is if it rains during the night and I’ve got to pack up and go in the morning I don’t want to pack a wet tent, nor do I want to set up a soaking wet tent the next time I stop for the night…that’s just me though.
The clip system is super easy and quick to set up and take down, it comes with a footprint as well to protect the bottom.
Poles seem quite durable aluminum and fly is very easy to clip on and get secured in a few minutes.
I’ve looked at and compared to more expensive tents and this a fantastic value!
