This product arrived well boxed and undamaged. I installed this AP in a business, and the setup was straight forward. The onboard firmware that was received was not the latest version, but updating it was straight forward. Once configured into the LAN, it provided good signal range and throughput. After two weeks of daily use with upwards of 50 concurrent clients, it has remained stable and needed no attention.

OMG – If you just want 1 access point that’s simple to setup and works great, this is it. I just returned a Ubiquity as it was ridiculous for me. On that, NO tech support, NO email, NO phone numbers and you HAVE to apparently download their app to set it up. You have to register to get the app and I never could do that successfully. OH, they apparently have some way to set it up with a smart phone but I’m legally blind and cannot do that.

NETGEAR – Phone numbers to call for support. I didn’t need to. This product sets up like all the ones I used to setup, but easier. It instantly obtained an address and I could have left it at that but I always like to see what’s available inside. The only thing I changed was simple things like the ssid and name. I also used a static address as I like them on things that will not change. I spend less than an hour setting this up and I’M BLIND. This was/is a great little AP. If I was using or needed many more points of access I might have gone to a new mesh router and mesh nodes but I had the last access point for 10 years and it was all I needed. This is in my house, downstairs. My router is upstairs at the front of the house. This unit sits downstairs near the back yard. I can get a strong signal that doesn’t drop once again. I just this for my TV, Echo and TIvo…as well as my lap top and ipad which are usually right there.

Bottom line…great if you just need 1 ap and very easy to setup.

I used this product to run internet out to my barn via cable, because it was too far and slow for several wireless repeaters that I tried. This does the trick magnificently, because the setup was virtually plug-N-play and my wife signal is just as powerful as in my house. I got this on sale for half price, so am satisfied with my investment.

The setup menu also allows one to set this device up manually with custom settings also. This is the method that I used in the end with good results.

Most WiFi access points installed centrally in my house have died within 3 or 4 years. Better hopes for this one. First thing you’ll notice is the cast metal backplane of this AP. Designed for heat dissipation and feels very well made. Easy setup; I configured both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz radios for the same SSID and Key as my previous AP. All my devices (18 of them) connected quickly to this new AP. Great speed near this device – over 400 Mbps – and good speed farther away. Only downside is poor coverage off the backside. I know this should be ceiling-mounted, but I need it on a central wall. We have a range extender already on the side of the house that’s not well-served from an AP in the center, so it’s no problem. I like that this NetGear AP is straightforward in its setup and features. Not a bunch of “experimental features” that some other brands may tout, but result in worse compatibility. This NetGear AP just works and very well.

Setting this up in a home environment was straightforward. Follow some steps, and it’s on. I replaced this with my home router Wifi to get a better-centralized signal that actually reached farther. Solid hardware and you can wall or ceiling mount it for a better experience. I do wish there were more color options like Unifi.

Had to return it unopened. Must have inadvertantly selected the POE model instead of the one that comes with the power adapter. I also question if it was the V2 model as the oroduct box identified it as a plain WAX214.

I have this downstream of my main wireless router. It provides broadband to my Airbnb next door. Has great coverage for the 900 sq feet place. It has guest mode. And setup was a snap. The upstream router is a netgear.

I wanted to use this in a metal outbuilding that does not have a hardwired LAN connection. I have a wireless bridge connection to that outbuilding that works perfectly. The WAX214v2 would not pull a DHCP connection from my router over the bridge connection. Was told by NetGear Support that a hardwire connection is the only way it would work. So I am returning it. Setup was easy and it works great if you can connect it direct to your LAN. It just does not work for my situation. Disappointing!
