California R6s use CR9EK but these were recommended by forums more so I went with them.
R6 spark plugs replacement procedure is no joke and can take a long time because of that stupid plastic heat shield. You know the one.
Anyway, I gapped them but they didn’t need to be gapped anyway. Applied a thin coat of anti-seize paste lube and screwed them in by hand then 1/2 turn with the wrench.
I haven’t noticed a difference in performance or throttle response since the bike had CR10EKs in them already, albeit it more worn out CR10EKs. But I have noticed a jump from 33 MPG to 36 MPG with a new air filter (K&N YA-6001), throttle sync, and some Seafoam in the tank. Only thing left is a valve adjustment but at $650 from all the shops that has to wait….
Good plugs. Cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else by $5 for all 4.

so when i click on these plugs, the little pop-up says this does not fit my bike. well.. cant always believe that pop-up. this plug is the hot weather plug for my katana, as indicated by the manual. the cr9 plug is my standard plug and there’s a cold weather plug cr8 also. so always check your manual for correct part numbers. i live in florida and in the summer the heat index is almost 100 degrees every day and for a air cooled bike it gets hot, especially in heavy traffic. i have had to resort to these plugs, synthetic 10w50 oil and even threw in some fuel line insulation wrap to prevent the slightest overheating possibilities.

CR9EK/CR10EK’s are probably the standard plugs for most Japanese made motorcycles (maybe cars too). I went through about 3 sets of these plugs (including the 9EK’s originally came with the bike) in the last 8 years or so with a single set of coil before having any spark issue. At ~12.1:1 compression ratio engine, I was able to get 12k mi out these plug with no problem. Longer than 12k mi, there would be slight issue delivering power at idle. Overall, good plugs at a good price on AMAZON, especially for those 4 cylinders.

Yamaha YZF R6 2009 Perfecto 👌

I own a 2009 Yamaha R6S and these are the factory OEM plugs. The picture showing in the description is not accurate since the CR10EK plugs have dual ground electrodes instead of the single ground electrode shown in the picture.
According to the Yamaha service manual, plugs should be gapped to .024″ – .028″ so I gapped them at .026″. Three out of four plugs were within .001″ of the .026″ with only one plug being slightly high out of range so I would have to say these plugs are not gapped at the factory to OEM specs but are very close. By comparison, the plugs I removed, which were original, ranged from .030″ to .040″ so never trust that the factory gets it right every time. And they only had 5000 miles on them so it wasn’t electrode erosion causing the big gaps.
Bike idles smoother, low RPM clutch covers are smoother now too. Haven’t ridden long enough to know if mileage has improved but I’m sure it has. I’ll be ordering these again in a year.

I bought these because of a forum recommendation that they would run better than stock on my YXZ UTV. I really couldn’t say though because as it stands I can’t install them. They are supposed to come with a screw on ‘nut’ that goes over the threaded stud in the listing image, and according to another buyer they received these in their order but I didn’t so I can’t hook up my plug wires without them. I reached out a week ago to NGK who promptly asked me for my mailing address but still nothing. They were supposed to mail the missing ends for free but who knows maybe its snail mail – still waiting. Don’t do what I did and try to remove the ‘cap’ from the OEM plug and literally rip out the diode trying. So basically I can’t get back to business until this mess gets resolved somehow.

It’s a spark plug, it does it’s job. I’ve had a set installed on my R6 for about 5 years now, and I still haven’t had to replace them. I even run my motorcycle a little bit richer then most, yet they keep going without any issues.

These plugs are in fact to OEM plugs for my R6 and I wouldn’t pick anything else otherwise. THey are great plugs even if there aren’t your specific OEM plug. They have superior insulation in teh plug itself and they make them out of the most conductive metal that you can get in a similar spark plug for this configuration. I didn’t want to get a colder plug so this was the best way to go in my opinion. I have used E3’s, Bosch etc… and I’ve always like the smooth running motor the NGK’s give on not only my bike, but my cars too. There is a definate difference in these plugs. Not to say the others are bad it’s just a light advantage so if you can get these for a good price it’s a no brainer.
