I started following James on Facebook and just loved his bold approach #CFD. Took some time to read but I truly love how simple and easy it is to follow. The pcos part of the book was truly enlightening for me because I have felt like such a failure since I was diagnosed. My doctors couldn’t tell me much and made me feel stupid for asking about anything. James gives me hope that I can be better one day. Would highly recommend this book!!!!!

This was such a smooth read. Easy to understand and so informing. I’ve worked with a few personal trainers and have a decent amount of experience in the health/fitness world. This book gave me quite a few NEW, useful tools that allow me to implement a few small adjustments to my diet and lifestyle. I definitely feel like I have more control over dieting especially, and a better overall understanding and relationship with food.

I’ve been listening to Mr Smith for awhile now and his words have been very helpful. However this book goes beyond anything I’ve heard him say in the past. I dont know if im just absorbing his information better because its in print. This book is amazing and I’ve already started to go through it a second time with a highlighter.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is unsure, stressed or just needing some good support

I first got this book on Audible since it was not available in the United States. I liked the book so much that I had to have it for reference. My seller shipped it from the UK. It arrived in perfect condition and it was fairly quick – especially considering we are in the middle of a pandemic. Inspiring book! Great service by this seller!

What an impressive book. I’ve been in the fitness world for some years now, and it took me years of trial and error, and a lot of research on my own time to learn about these concepts. I’m delighted James was able to explain these fundamental health concepts SO CLEARLY – from nutrition, to good habits (sleep, keep NEAT up, let go of toxic relationships that don’t support your new lifestyle), to training, fat loss and muscle gain, and more. I particularly loved the chapters about Type I and Type II diabetes (even if you don’t have it, chances are someone in your life might have it or develop it later in life) and about female physiology and PCOS. Not enough women know how our hormones and menstrual cycle influence fat loss and muscle strength, which can lead to a lot of disappointment and frustration.
I’m going to recommend this book to everyone – gym rats like me as well as everyone else. Preventing obesity and disease should be a social goal.
(Bonus points if you read the book in James’ accent haha.)

Loved the book ….not a diet book as promised. Covers so much.
Following James Smith for a while on insta and can say there is so much to learn from him and Diren that you can probably not be able to learn from the rest.
Go for it, read it, enjoi it and try and gain as much as possible.

Ok I am currently reading this book and I love it. It’s just a no BS approach and I appreciate lots of things Mr.Smith has to say. That said…this book isn’t for whiny crybabies so if you wear your feelings on your sleeve beware lol….I mean still get the book bc you probably still need to hear this..just get yourself a tissue

Fitness is a business, pure and simple. You can’t turn around in modern society, or go on the Instas or the Tik Toks or Twitterbook without someone offering you their personal advice on fitness. Go to the gym, eat healthier, walk 10,000 steps a day, eat less of that product, do upside-down jumping jacks while drinking celery water, etc. etc.
The health of the masses is an important topic on any given day, but with the plethora of ‘fitness gurus’ that exist down the street or on the socials or on TV, many of them miss the point here. Health is an important topic for the masses and it needs to be addressed, but it’s a PERSONAL topic for the individual. Everyone is different, so its important to narrow down a fitness journey to the person, not the people.
From my experience, EVERYONE misses this vital aspect of staying healthy. Slimming clubs don’t do 1-on-1s. They don’t send people for house visits. Gyms don’t open for one person and make them stand in a queue to wait their personalised turn. Even doctors seem pretty vague on this topic. Fitness is a worldwide group activity. Which is why its difficult for individuals to grasp and understand fitness in a way that works for them.
I’ve battled my weight for over decade now. I’ve participated in diets, attended slimming clubs, shared recipes, toned down my favourite foods into healthier alternatives, and sacrificed the food I enjoy. And did this work? In the short term, yes. In the long term, when I came off these diets and departed the slimming club, my weight started to increase again.
These experiences have alienated and skewed my perception on food management and its because their so-called experts have advised me in this way. And then I realise – 10 years is a long time to exist in this potentially dangerous yo-yo situation. I’m not getting any younger. But its because of the cloud of uncertainty that this had lasted this long. And thousands of people are affected by this every day…
I started following James Smith on Tik Tok nearly a year ago and immediately, I knew this man had a message to give. This is the sole reason I bought this book because he spoke clarity and sense. He cleared this cloud of uncertainty by being brutally honest and street smart, using the science in ways that I have never seen before. The science is what matters. If you follow this, you get results. It’s so simple when you think about it, but a slimming club/’fitness guru’ flogging a program or weight loss products isn’t going to be forthcoming with this simple information because it doesn’t line their pockets. Think about it.
So I bought this book and kept watching James on Tik Tok. And within seven weeks of this, I had lost a stone (14 pounds). The book didn’t advise me on ways of how to do this because James knows it would be a fruitless exercise, but he does instill a confidence in you to build a plan and a framework to start this, and to knuckle down and wait for the results. It worked. That’s why this book is so good at delivering its message, and it can apply to anyone as an individual.
This book was only the starting line for me. It isn’t in depth on what will work for you because, as mentioned above, everyone is different. It doesn’t contain any recipes for instant success because nothing is instant about weight loss. But this book will give you the confidence to approach the topic with the one sure thing that will help you. Stay in a calorie deficit. One sentence, and James has opened my eyes to weight loss in ways NO ONE else did for an entire decade. I almost feel dumb for not knowing this sooner. He also offers key tips for gym regulars and anyone who struggles with exercise too, and although a lot of this went over my head, it started to make sense. For the first time ever, I understood gym lingo. Again, a testament to the simplicity of this book.
Simply put, for someone who is troubled or confused by any aspect of a fitness journey, this book is for you.
Thanks to James, I can now continue my fitness journey to avoid the dangerous hereditary medical conditions that have wracked my family. And I can do this with confidence. Thanks to James, I am no longer scared to cheat or have an off day and eat a cheeseburger during a family meal. And thanks to James, I know I can add years to my life, which benefits me and my family. All it took was to pay attention and read his book. As an avid reader, its nice to finally see a health benefit from one of my favourite past times…

Seriously one of the best non fiction books I have read in a long time. I learned so much about daily small habits related to weight loss. It doesn’t have to be overwhelming. I don’t need to train 7 days a week. Six pack abs while they look great are a pain to get and maintain. Lots of life lessons in this book. I am walking away motivated.

This book is okay but expect cuss words. If they offend you skip this purchase. Turned me off but good information.

I’ve followed James for a few years and was thrilled when he released his first book. It is exactly what I expected from him, which is straight-forward talk about health, fitness and life. It’s interesting to learn about his journey and there are a lot of nuggets of wisdom scattered throughout that make me want to buy multiple copies of the book in hard cover to give out to various friends and family members. All of the information that you’ve read and looked at and listened to over the years, all the information overload and over complicated explanations about how to lose fat and look fit are simplified here. Thank you, James, for putting this out there in such a way that EVERYONE can understand it. It’s not complicated, any more. It never needed to be in the first place, but there was too much money involved in keeping health and fitness complicated and contradictory and keeping people confused and frustrated.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to uncomplicate health and fitness and fat loss. I also highly recommend following James on one of the social media platforms he is on. You’ll be glad you did.
