So far so good… –
I wasn’t really paying enough attention ordering this toothbrush. The brush heads are not the same as my other one, neither is the charging base so they are not interchangeable. This one also feels a little bulkier probably due to the fact I used the other thinner and standard style Oral B so many years.

Opened a “new” package, only to find there is dust/dirt all over the toothbrush, with dust and scruff marks on the charger. This product was returned and sold again. Buyer beware.

I’ve been old school brushing my entire life and a recent visit to my dentist got him to suggest that I try an electric toothbrush. He didn’t suggest one in particular, he just recommended the Oral-B brand. After a lot of research, I chose this one based on the fact that it was very cost effective, the replacement heads were reasonably priced, it is completely waterproof so it can be used on the tub/shower, and most of all, it has a 2 minute shut-off timer (which is what is recommended by the ADA for total brushing time) with 30 second reminders to switch brushing areas (they recommend you brush upper left, upper right, lower left, and lower right for 30 seconds each totaling 2 minutes). It also has a pressure type gauge letting you know when you apply too much pressure which could injure your gums. I’ve only used it a few times but I must admit what a difference over normal brushing.
Please note that this is a “bare bones” type of unit without all of the bells and whistles for a budget-friendly minded individual, but is basically the same great base product that you could spend upwards of $300 or more. I purchased mine for approximately $45 and it came with one head and a charger. It was also fully charged upon arrival ready for use. I will update this review if I have anything else to add. Highly recommend this.

My wife has been using an electric toothbrush for years, so I thought I would give one a try and see what it’s all about, especially since it’s touted as “Designed for an easy switch to electric brushes.” Hers has a longitudinal (back-and-forth) movement, while the illustrations for the Oral-B show that the head rotates, just like a hygienist’s polishing brush. WRONG! It merely vibrates and there is no circular movement that I can see, not even a visible angular displacement (a few degrees) of the bristle bundles, and not enough to make them tilt at all from the speed, like the seller’s images seem to convey.
Besides the less-than-expected functionality, I was really disappointed by the instructions. They are the worst I’ve seen in recent memory, even worse than ones written by non-English speakers — because they contain NO words at all! Just illustrations with icons, often inscrutable. The very first one is trying to tell us something about “1-25 sec”, “>25 sec” and “1 sec”, but what, I don’t know. I thought that it might be obvious to a longtime electric toothbrush user like my wife, but she said “Meaningless to me, figure it out. You’re the engineer, I’m a words person.”
Oh, the flip side of 17×14″ sheet of illustrations is covered with small-print words, with really “important” things like a long list of warnings (e.g., clean it after each use, don’t use it as a toy), the dire consequences of using non-Oral-B replacement heads, and an FCC compliance statement, all in English and French. But a few words to give us URLs where I can find *written* instructions online on how to use it, in common languages? Nope.
I might like to take something like this with me on short trips, in which case I would like to leave the charging base behind. How can I tell when the brush is fully charged? The product box touts “long lasting battery” but how many minutes of operation can I get from a full charge? There’s no clue in the instructions or anywhere else.
Yet, suppose I want to take this on a long overseas trip and I’m willing to bring the charging base; I travel with carry-ons only but the base and its cord are not that big or heavy. Can I plug the base into a European-style 220V outlet with a simple adapter for its US plug? The 17×14″ sheet of warnings does not say — it’s too busy telling you not to let your dog or anyone else play with the brush. But as an engineer I know enough to look for a tiny label on the bottom of the charger, and there I find that it’s rated only for a 110-130V input. If I plugged it into 220V, it would likely blow out something internally. Worst case it could start a fire though that’s unlikely since at least the bottom of the charger (not the 17×14″ sheet or the product box) has a UL safety seal, and UL certification requires products to take precautions against such results.
After this, I’m sticking with the free toothbrushes from my dentist.

It is definitely quiet. And if you have ever used the original Oral-B models, you know what I’m talking about. However, the OG Oral-B brushes do a better clean than this IO.
I really just don’t like this one as much, kinda regret buying it.
