This is a well-made puller with nice versatility between 2 or 3 jaws. This is a large puller, and a little heavy to handle. One room for improvement is the jaw attaching bolts/nuts. These should be pins with retaining clips. The bolt and nuts provided tighten up and restrict jaw movement, or are so loose they allow jaw misalignment. Fix this and I would award 5 stars.
I do recommend this puller if you need a large, heavy puller for applying a lot of force. I own several OTC tools and consider all of them well made and reliable.

This is big and heavy duty with fine threads.
I bought it to remove a wheel hub from an old Snapper riding mower. Nothing else worked and I destroyed my old gear puller trying to remove it. This baby walked it right off. Price seems a little high but it works great.

An excellent puller for the seasoned mechanic. We have this puller and use it a lot in our mechanic farm repair shop. It is showing some wear but has been put through a tremendous amount use. It is the best puller we have used. I would recommend it to those looking to make a tool investment that will hold up into the future.

This gear puller represents the ideal way to remove stuck rotor or brake drums.

Main issue, is the included bolts, are tool small, making them very easy to lose.. When using this tool, don’t let the pointed tip of the piston come in physical contact with anything. If the pointy tip becomes blunt, puller is useless at over 1 tons of pressing force.

I needed to remove the flywheel from my Kawasaki v-twin engine to get to the breather cover. There are ways to do this without a puller, but those can damage parts. So, I bought this to do the job “by the book”. I have to say it was very uneventful when there was a slight ping and the flywheel was free after a few turns of the screw. But, that is exactly why I purchased this. I WANTED an uneventful removal, no damage to flywheel, crankshaft, body parts. This was what I got. I don’t often have the need to remove a flywheel, so I don’t know if I will need to use this again, but now I have it if that need occurs again. Turns out this was way bigger than I needed. I had the legs on the bottom holes and it handled my flywheel fine. The smaller one says its max was 8″ which would have been 2+” too small.

I have a lot of OTC puller components. I have found a way to break every other brand I have used…including Snap On, MAC, Craftsman and the import junk. But, over 40 years I have NEVER broken an OTC puller component.

I needed another puller for a small engine training session. I ordered this puller for removing flywheels from large displacement air cooled engines. As expected it worked perfectly. Fit was good, finish is typical OTC and it popped the flywheels without any fuss—no need for a rap with a hammer.

If you need a puller or puller set, don’t even consider the cheap stuff….will likely just get you into a mess. Buy the OTC that fits your needs and you should have a reliable tool for many years. My first OTC puller set was a purchase in the mid-80’s and it looks and works just as good as it did 35 years ago.

This is the beast of all the beasts! It will not fail you. The quality is absolutely superb! One of the tools that you take to your biggest wars as far as the pullers are concerned! If all the tools were made like this one, the mechanics life would be a bliss! Not that I recommend it, you would be a fool buying anything else. Enough said….!
