The OTC 4706 Universal List Support Clamp works on hatches and hoods when the hydraulic lifts no longer holds the hatch or hood up. The clamp also helps support those hoods and hatches when the lift do work properly and adds an extra measure of safety for your noggin’ from getting slammed by a hood or hatch.
Simply secure the clamp just below a hydraulic lift and worries about falling hoods and hatches are gone – well almost. Don’t forget to remove it before you attempt to close the hood or hatch and be sure to support said hood or hatch when removing.
The clamp is well-made and is a useful device; I no longer have to support the hatch of my S10 Blazer with my head when trying to retrieve an item from the rear of the vehicle – except when I am trying to retrieve the support clamp.
Throw away the stick that you now use to support the hood or hatch and try this clamp instead. Now, that’s using your head!

Great quality holds the hood good for leaking hood struts. Doesn’t have the big red tag on it like some do just to remember it basically but I actually prefer this instead. Comes in 2 pack so those heavy hoods it holds up good

Use these on heavy equipment and light truck hood struts. After using maybe twice, the aluminum housing begins to bend when you tighten the set screw. Not impressed for the high price.

I am a mechanic, and these are the best hood support clamps that I’ve purchased to date. There is no cheap plastic on these to fail. The handle allows you to tighten them very tight, this will help when you go to close the hood, the hood won’t close so easy, which will help you from forgetting your clamps under the hood. I’ve had good experience with OTC tools to date, they seem to make quality tools.

Works as it is supposed to. I was even able to use them to hold up a tailgate while I changed the worn out gas shock. Mine are blue in color and are easy to spot in a clutter of tools. Red might have been a bit harder to spot.

They work fine, but they blue, not red as pictured.

I mistakenly ordered to sets because I assumed for the price it was just one clamp and that they were just higher than the plastic handled ones. This is for 2 clamps, they are blue (so what) and they have a large 1/2 slot for the strut so I can’t see them not fitting like noted on some of the smaller ones. And they are all metal so shouldn’t fatigue like a plastic one.
