I just bought this last month and I really love it. However it was dropped and fell right on the goose neck spout and it broke off – it fell from quite a height so no points off lol. That I’m right back buying it again should say something to you. ๐ The steel is nice and thick with an attractive satin finish. No plastic inside. They actually thought of ergonomics with this one, it balances nicely in the hand, you don’t feel like your fighting against the weight of the water inside – this makes it a joy to pour. This is something I appreciate as an ex knife maker, I always tried to get the balance of the knife close to where the index finger grasps the knife. The dial is a handy and distinguishing feature, it’s so much better than the buttons. There is a minimum amount of beeps from it as well. The top is a bit hard to get off so be careful not to burn yourself. Great job OXO!

– Count up timer is a huge missed opportunity as worthless to me. Who stands and stares at their kettle for four minutes?! They must be better at multitasking, for me the whole point is I need a reminder when its done.
– The keep warm feature can be awkward if you have an empty kettle and just want to put it back on the plate. You get used to eventually.
– at this price, engraving a few measurements on the inner wall of the kettle would be awesome and save time.
– Bulky black cord sticks way out from wall socket. I would have preferred an elbow style plug.
I suspect that the oxidation people are seeing is coming from their water and a lack of descaling but time will tell. [UPDATE:] It’s definitely from users using tap water. Don’t use tap water, it also ruins the taste of your coffee/tea. Use distilled. My pot looks brand new and I almost never wash it. When I’m done I pour out any extra water, put it back (make sure its off!), wipe the lid and leave the lid cracked for evaporation.

This kettle is great. It pours fast enough to use for tea and it gives plenty of control for a pour over.
The handle is at a good angle, it has a silicone cove that does not get hot and gives really good grip in your hand. The lid also has a silicone handle so you can remove it when the kettle is hot with no issues.
The base is super easy to use. You can set the temp you want and press a button to start it, not complicated at all and it stays hot for 30min if you do not cancel it.
If I am being really picky I wish it had a separate physical on off button. like one that clicks or slides into either an off or on position, just for my own piece of mind.
I am happy with my choice, it works great.

I’ve come to appreciate the careful design of OXO kitchen items and this kettle is right in line with that high standard. I get the impression that they looked at other kettles on the market and set out to improve on them. It’s simple to use, has good ergonomics, has a large clear display and the features are simple to access through the large “turn ‘n’ press” button. I also like that it quickly heats up to the set temperature. So… highly recommended for pour over coffee connoisseurs and tea aficionados alike.

I was looking for a gooseneck kettle that was simple to use, had a temperature display, automatically kept the water hot (for 30 minutes), was fast, poured well, had a comfortable handle, had a built-in timer, had a decently long cord with the ability to stow away the excess cord, would automatically shut off if it was too low on water, and no internal plastic. This kettle checked ALL the boxes. You press the button once to turn it on, adjust the temperature, if necessary (I rarely do), and press the button again to start heating the water. It beeps when it gets there (but not loud enough for me to hear).
Possible negatives (but not for me):
Changing the temperature often (It will go as low as 104 F.)
1500 watts, makes it very fast, but could be a problem for some
About 1 liter capacity, you might want more
Can’t disable the beep (but I can’t hear it anyway)
I use the kettle almost exclusively for pour-over coffee, and I occasionally change the temperature a little. If I want a cup of tea, I just use whatever temperature it’s set to. (I’m not a tea connoisseur.) If I were flipping back and forth from perhaps 170 to 205, adjusting the kettle with its rotary dial would be cumbersome, so if that describes you, I’d suggest looking for a different one.

This electric kettle is still very new to me. Thus far, itโs been working just as expected and I am very happy with it. I like that it is metal, nicely balanced for comfortable handling, very simple to operate, and has a timer that keeps it hot for 30 minutes. However, I nearly decided not to purchase it because a few past reviewers reported that handles came loose. I really hope that doesnโt happen to mine!! I decided to buy it because, in my experience, OXO products have been really well made and durable. I hope that any past design flaws have been addressed. Time will tell, I guess. For now, itโs definitely 5 stars.
