READ the reviews = specifically the negative ones. It played the DVD’s – so at least that part worked. The display however as other reviews noted = a small box relative to television screen size. I went into my television settings to change from the 4:3 default to Full screen and it expanded – a bit – but fully 1/3rd of the screen all around is still black.
As to the user experience. The menu setup is primitive and not particularly user friendly. As soon as you turn it on it asks you for your language = despite setting that repeatedly from prior activations. You must cycle through multiple screens – back and forth. Also it’s reaction when you use the remote – not many real function keys by the way and definitely made for small hands. As other reviews noted it has NO WIFI. It provides you an ethernet port in the rear of it – apparently for looks. Try connecting it to your modem to see if there are firmware updates = good luck with that. The network detection test will consistently tell you it passed and relay your ISP address etc. = but it WILL NOT connect to the internet – with absolutely no mechanism for altering this fact.
Finally. The product description rattles off all the formats it “supposedly” accepts. It claims to read DVD-R disks = nope. So I tried it with older DVD’s which played as noted save for a small screen display. Blu-ray also played – same. I tried widescreen movies and at least those actually displayed as noted stretching the full length of my screen – my television has a 32″ screen. This is clearly a very low-end product. You get what you pay for.

I was researching separate CD and DVD players that were 4K. Thought I’d pay a lot for 2 separate devices that would be large and difficult to operate. But I decided to hire a tech guy to set up my home theatre and he told me everything to buy including this unit. He said it will do everything I need, plus more, and in a sleek profile. It works perfectly, I couldn’t be happier and the price was a fraction of what I thought I would pay

The remote control was made for hands no bigger than a 3 year old. Only disappointment.

This is an entry level 4K/Bluray/DVD player. There is no display built into it, but everything you need to see and know can be viewed on-screen.
I have watched a variety of movies and programs on all three formats.
DVD movies have good upscaling.
BluRay are excellent
4K is a mixed bag, some movies look a but dark, It could be there are settings to adjust this, and if there are, I will do an update…
I recommend this as a barebones entry level player, it works quite well…. but if you can afford better, buy something else

They have cut every corner to make this cheep.
No read out of any kind.
Reminds me of the cheep DVD players of the past in size and lack of read out. Remote is even in the cheep seats. Very small.
The auto network set up has not worked for me so far. So the Firmware update will have to wait. If I do it at all. It looks fine on picture side of things. The 4K HDR is a very nice jump indeed.
I’m a loyal to the brand kind of person.
I have an older BR player from these guys.
I has served me well and has older RCA inputs
Un like this unit it is smart with apps and video tweaks that are first rate. Not this one.
On a side note. My old player was working just fine but lack 4K so I grabbed this one. A funny thing on the old one. I did the update and several of my old movies will not load ad read all the sudden. Almost as if they did something to inspire us to upgrade into the new marked by slowly making older units act stupid over night. Seams like this marketing trick has caught on in several brands. Lol
I’m absolutely sure nothing was wrong with my disc. Just played them before the update.
Now they no workie in old unit. Work fine in the new one though. Hummmm!
Since this new unit truly does not need internet to run as it has literally zero smart features. I refuse to have a smart bomb loaded in it by some update.
If you are looking for a bare bones player. You could do worst. 4K is truly worth the upgrade. If you have 4K tv that is.

Works good, does a nice job of upscaling DVDs even, only down fall is it’s not Wifi. I missed that part when i ordered it.

輸入品だと明確に記載していないため、かなりの時間を待って到着、予定日も一日すぎてから使ってみたものの、日本製品のBlu-rayが一部見れない。買ってはダメです。

Great Product!

Had a terrible experience with the highly rated Sony player with UHD disks. This unit works flawlessly and the picture is excellent. I like the menu system better as well, although its very basic. The only purpose of this player is to play DVD, Blu-ray, and UHD Blu-rays. There is no other addons, which is nice since I already have the other things I need for our TV with other products, so I didn’t need to pay more for features I would never use.

This 4K UHD player was exactly what I was looking for. I have a modest Blu Ray / UHD collection of my favorite movies / shows with high replay value, and where streaming just doesnt cut it (either b/c of quality or it just isnt readily available – think Lord of The Rings, Game of Thrones, John Wick, Interstellar, etc).
My home theater setup – even more modest. A budget 4K 65″ TCL TV with built-in sound bar. At my level / budget, it just doesn’t make sense to buy one of the fancier players that range anywhere from $250-$1000 that have more bells and whistles.
Is this player perfect? Far from it. The UI looks like it is from the mid-00s, the remote is small (yet functional enough), the player itself does have a light/flimsy feel to it, and the lack of HDMI cable is a minor inconvenience but enough to make you say, “really?”. BUT! The picture and audio this baby produces is GREAT!!! Even in my setup and use case, the difference is truly night and day from what my old Blu Ray player or Xbox could produce. It feels like Panasonic cut every corner imaginable with these players EXCEPT with how it actually plays, and that’s really all I needed at the end of the day.
I cant say Im super confident this player will last as long as other products of the past from Panasonic, but that seems to be the case everywhere today in consumer electronics, and particularly with these 4K players (even from other brands and higher quality models). So for what it is, I’m very pleased with this purchase! If you’re looking for a player that can do 4k UHD, Blu Ray, DVDs, and CDs, look no further!
