I bought this because I shoot a lot of Primate Fiasco concerts with difficult back lighting. Causes auto focus and light settings to do weird things to musicians faces while it prioritizes things that it shouldn’t, like lights or audience movement. So I got this camera because I can manually set everything. Turns out, I just leave it on auto anyway because it’s smart enough to recognize faces and then prioritize it. Other cameras have done this but they try too hard to keep the face at skin color, killing all the stage color and turning everything brown and grey. This camera lets the color show up on the face and keeps the saturation consistent picture-wide but without turning the musician into a smurf. In other words. There is a tiny videographer inside this camera working for free at every show. I immediately bought a second one. Now I don’t have to edit between this footage and garbage from other cameras.
The audio is great. Bass is a little low for my taste but thats a preference. I have used the ap to control the camera remotely. It’s impressive.

I bought this camcorder purely for the 4K and for the size and price, it does a great job. I also have the FZ1000 and the image quality is comparable. Chromatic aberration is worse, audio is better, manual controls are worse, stabilization is better.
The reach on the VX870 zoom is a tiny bit better and when 4K is output to 720p — the real benefit of 4K — there’s a bit more room in the frame to zoom and pan and still maintain sharpness. Both cameras are great at this, though, and the effective reach for clear HD nature photography is astounding.
If I only had one $900 4K camera on a desert island, it would be the FZ1000. If I wanted more room to pack food and water, I’d take the VX870!

Buena imagen y calidad.

Everything about the camera is great! The app to control it from my phone sucks (REALLY BAD), but I think that would be unfair to mark the camera off for it. I’m using the camera for my YouTube channel (deegeu), and so far it’s worked flawlessly. The indoor shots need some minor editing, but outdoor shots are crystal clear.
Recommended for a good 4K camera under $1K.

Grainy video in low light conditions and just ok pictures. My Galaxy S21 takes better pictures and video. Seller was great!
Accepted return with no questions asked and provided full refund including most of my return shipping.

The front of the camera started coming apart when i attached a fisheye Becase it was made cheaply. And 4 months after I bought it i had to spend 40 shipping and 110 at Panasonic for labor. What bs. Never buying from Panasonic again

I gave the Panasonic HC-VX870 three stars for a couple reasons… First, I bought it because of the 120fps feature, but I’m completely confused – there doesn’t seem to be a setting for 1080/120, just 1080/60. There is a setting for “super slow motion”??? So is that 120 or 240 interpolated???
There is no mention of how to set the camera for 120fps, or the interpolated 240fps. The instruction manual is absolutely horrible.
I’ve searched the web for answers, but it’s just to new for any serious hands on testing.
Next, it’s very awkward to hold because it’s very small, and it’s difficult to shoot at anything but eye level — try zooming in or out smoothly if you are shooting at waste level! Third – it does not come with an external charger! You have to plug the camera into the wall to charge the battery. Two problems with that… you can’t charge a second battery while using the camera, and… power surges anybody??? Extra batteries are outrageously expensive!
I’m hoping someone will be able to tell me where I’m wrong because I want to like this camera!

Simply put, the quality you get for the amount you pay is not work it. This camera is hyped up way too much based on its features, you can buy a camera for half of this price and get better quality. I was a little disappointed in that, also check your box to make sure it comes with the right content. Mine seemed opened and had a Samsung charger, don’t know how that happened but make sure you return it immediately regardless of how badly you need a camera right away.

I jumped on the 4k bandwagon, thought I would try it out considering the price, $900 for a 4k 30fps camcorder, that supports HDR, slow motion and a few other bells and whistles in 1080p 60fps mode?… what a steal… except I open it up and find UK Chargers, plug my camera in and check the settings and it’s 4k 24fps, and 1080p 50fps, I guess Amazon thought that British Columbia Canada was somewhere in the UK, great looking camera, a ton of features, 2 stars because of UK version being sent, 24fps 4k is a down side, I could have got a cheap SJCam 4k 24fps for $200, that 30fps would have been just enough for some sports, or wild life stuff, but just my initial tests of following my daughter around a msg pops up on the screen saying my Panning is too fast… i’ve Contacted the Seller and hope they can help me out. otherwise i’ll be sending in for a full refund.

Con la definicion en 4k, su acercamiento claro y buena duración de bateria todo bien! Solo hay que grabar con movimientos lentos para no saturar la grabacion, es recomendable comprar un microfono externo.
