I have a Samsung 67″LED DLP TV. This Panasonic is its best 3d companion. This player and its more expensive siblings are the only other players that currently offer the checkerboard option. that is what is needed for 3D in the older Samsung and Mitsubishi DLP tvs to display in 3d.
I won’t go in to a lot of detail of the specs. you can read the listing from Panasonic for that. but i will tell you what is important to me is that the picture is incredible. 3d is as good as the theater. i have had other blu-ray players. so far i find this one to be on par if not better than the other players. picture and sound quality are excellent. upconversion is the best i have seen for players under $500(even as good as the oppo). it brings back life to my large dvd collection. i read another reviewer comment on the remote being poorly made. this is false. i have no worry that if i drop it it will be just fine.
what is currently written on amazon about the performance and options is very accurate from what i have experienced. a very great player and very easy to use. the few other reviewers that moan about what it doesn’t have are just moaning over nothing. to just review on what this player can do is what i am doing. you want something else buy something else or buy one of the more expensive Panasonics. if you want a great 3d blu-ray player that plays all 3d formats for a great price.(under $200) this is the one!!! and a free Avatar blu-ray 3d as a bonus!!!!(make sure you get your rebate)

i hope everyone enjoys their purchase as much as i do.

I, like many others, have gave up on Samsung supporting there 3D Ready DLP TV’s, with a compatible 3D Blu-ray player or adapter.
I purchased this 3D Blu-ray player because it was the only brand with 3D Blu-ray players that have the 3D checkerboard that works with my Samsung HL-T5689S 3D Ready DLP TV and my 4 TriDef shutter glasses that I purchased for it. Both this model and the DMP-BDT300 & 350 models wiill work with the 3D Ready DLP TV’s, but the other two models are pricey and hard to find.
The 3D is awesome with this 3D Blu-ray player and my Samsung 3D Ready DLP TV, so don’t let anybody make you think that you have to purchase one of the newer LED 3D TV’s. Grant it, the new LED 3D TV’s are frame sequential instead of field sequential, giving a higher resolution (1080P) to each eye. I have a friend with the new 3D set up and we just cannot tell that much difference playing the same 3D Blu-ray on his setup and mine. Grant it there is, but the human eye can see and catch only so much.
The 3D from the 3D Blu-ray’s is better and different too. It is like it is in 3D layers instead of the 3D primarily being the top layer of the movie. Just set the 3D output from this unit to checkerboard, select 3D on your TV remote and use the Tri-Def or any other 3D glasses with your 3D Ready DLP TV. I am told by a friend with the same TV, the shutter glasses that sink by using light bursts instead of a transmitter also work with the 3D Ready DLP TV’s.
Amazon had a good price on this 3D Blu-ray player and on several of the HDMI 1.4, High Speed, 3D Cables, so I figured I better purchase it before it became obsolete. I was able to get the Panasonic DY-WL10 Blu-Ray Player USB Wi-Fi adapter for this unit at another website for around $50. I am very glad that I purchased all 3 of them. My home theater is now complete. Good luck with yours!

It plays blu-rays but in order to us e the apps you have to connect through a wire or buy a wireless adapter which is pretty huge and ugly expensive. Then the apps are not full functioning. For example, you can only watch movies from your queue on the Netflix app. You cannot browse shows. There are many other items out there that are more functional. I wouldn’t waste my time on this product.

I bought this particular BD player because my Samsung BD-P3600 could barely play burned discs therefore I needed something that played all types of burned discs whether it be CD-R to BD-R/RW DL. Let me preface this review by stating that I read reviews about it being a ‘crippled’ version of the DMP-BDT300 and 350 because it has no onboard memory, analog out, dual HDMI out, or built in WI-FI as well as it having a ‘less pretty’ GUI. My answers to those ‘crippling’ factors:

1-If you don’t use BD-LIVE (I don’t) you wont miss the on-board memory, either way I tossed a 4GB SD card I had (worth around $10) and that solved the lack of memory issue.
2-I don’t use analog pre-outs… If you have your BD player transmit the audio track VIA the HDMI folder you wont miss it.
3-This one gets tricky if you don’t have an HDMI 1.4 compliant receiver and want to watch 3D BD Discs–My receiver can handle HDMI 1.4 so it is a non-issue for me however I don’t care for 3D BD either way and if you don’t, having one HDMI out is a non-issue. Sound is still sent via bitstream to the receiver without a problem and is backwards compatible with HDMI 1.3.
4-This is a big deal many including myself as I use Netflix heavily given their HD content but fortunately I ran a network cable in the attic, dropped it behind my equipment and deployed a switch. If you must have WI-FI, you will apparently have to buy a proprietary WIFI adapter which will occupy the lone USB port on the front of the BD player (and force you to keep the front tray open). Now this presents other issues if you are USB happy and connect many devices to the unit but I would imagine switching between WIFI adapter and media would be minimal. Even if you frequently connect a flash drive to the player switching between the WIFI adapter and removable media is painless given the location of the USB port. I personally have never connected removable media to my BD player so even if the unit had no USB I wouldn’t miss it, so I doubt this is an issue.
5-As for the ‘less pretty’ GUI, I found it to be just fine and easy to use.. Granted, my Samsung is nicer as it is more animated than the Panasonic but the Panasonic’s isn’t a slouch either. It strikes me as a purely business GUI that does nothing bad or exceptionally well.

All that said, it does the most important job I have it employed for. It effortlessly reads my BD-R DL media. It also does Netflix but I mainly use it in my bedroom with my now semi-retired BD-P 3600…
