The Peak Design Capture Camera Clip is easy to use, functions as described, looks good, and is made with attention to fit and finish. The clip has a good heft to it without being clunky.
What youโll find in the box: base plate, clip, hex key, 2 longer (approximately 20.3 mm) long bolts for use with thicker straps, and a small pouch.
The camera it is attached to in the photo is a Sony alpha 6100, as you can see the clip can be positioned to allow for full functionality of the screen.
Using the baseplate and clip is easy- simply slide the mounted camera baseplate into the clip, a small click locks the plate in place; and for added security the locking pin on the clip can be turned into โlockedโ position. The manufacturer suggests mounting the camera lens down, but the clip can accommodate the camera mounted in any direction.
This clip is the second Peak Design purchase Iโve made and I am very happy Iโve chosen their line for my camera gear; itโs well made, looks nice, and works well.
After using my clip for a few weeks, I can say Iโm happy with it and I would definitely recommend it!

The functionality of this device is amazing. I backpack a lot and having my A6300 one hand accessible is a dream come true. It pops off and on super easy. However
1. The unit is too small. Maybe I should have bought the older model. It barely mounts to my backpack strap. I actually have to mount it lower than I want since it wonโt fit higher on the strap
2. Only an Allen key to remove it? Come on. Really? I need to carry a tool? A wide slot for a quarter would have been a better design. I just took my camera to use with a tripod at my daughters soccer game and guess what? Couldnโt use the tripod because I couldnโt get the clip base off the camera because i forgot the wrench!!
3. Similarly, couldnโt it have been designed with a female 1/4โ thread in the base so it could also be used with a tripod and you donโt need to remove it?
For as much as I love it I may return it. I use tripods enough (even backpacking) that to always have to remove the base with a specific tool all the time is a deal breaker. Too bad… maybe V4?
Update to 4stars: I got a Quick Release Clamp for QR Plate for my hiking tripod so I donโt have to remove the plate as much. But it all adds weight. A slot drive to remove the plate would still be nice

I wanted this for running and hiking with my Sony a6000 and I read the reviews carefully before ordering so thanks for those that helped there. First impressions are good and it feels pretty secure but easy to use. It has a solid click connection and just needs a bit of practice to get used to it. Me being me I have added extra security with a wrist strap secured through the chest strap of the rucksack and with a mini carabiner which can both stay on for shooting. Overkill, as it also has a lock on the release button. I have also added an elasticated velcro strap round the lens and shoulder strap, even though I’m not awful convinced it is needed but maybe for running but the strap can also secure a shower cap over the whole thing for a measure of shower protection. The extra lock on the black release button is easy to set but a bit awkward to release. I’m sure with practice it will be fine. The clip fits all three of my main rucksacks, contrary to reviews by others and that was without the longer Allen bolts. I have attached photos to get a rough idea of the sizes. It also fits my PD Sling bag. As a bonus the plate fits my tripod which I wasn’t expecting. I tried it with a belt and that could be good walking about on holiday with no bag.
Went for a walk with 55-210mm longer lens and it just feels right and obviously is very convenient when you want to shoot and because it is there and not in a rucksack pocket, more photo opportunities will be taken. You quickly get the knack of it and it does seem like a great device.
Checked the screws after walking about for a couple of hours with multiple connections and releases of the camera and didn’t seem to be any slackening. I’m considering leaving the base plate on more or less permanently.
Impressed so far and yes initially feels like a fair bit of money. However, considering the value of a camera and lens, the security and the quality of the build it actually feels like good value and I think it will become a much prized accessory.

I got the first one for my wife, so that she wouldn’t have to continually hold her Nikon B500 on the hand strap. It worked out so well for that I’ve purchased two more and also an extra plate. She has hers mounted on her camera backpack strap.
One of mine is in a similar position on my camera bag’s strap. My other one is rigged onto a chest carrier for the camera that has the longer lens.
The mechanisms are easy to apply to straps. The locking and release mechanisms work easily, and are very secure.

I used this clip for the first time during my trip to Glacier National Park as one of the members in a facebook group recommended it. I am beyond impressed. I wore it on my backpack strap & I was never worried about dropping or loosing my camera as I was climbing up rocks, or pushing through tree branches. It is so sturdy, even with my longer lens attached to the camera body. I also purchased the other plate that is compatible with my tripod…another great score so I could get myself in some of the shots & not have to be worried my camera would get damaged. Super easy to slip the camera in & out. I used the longer hex screws & didn’t have to tighten them once.
Great, great product.

This is my second capture clip v3 in the family. One is for use with a rangefinder style APS-C and the other for an SLR style (though compact) APS-C camera. Works great for our use case of backpacking and hiking using multi-day, day, or lightweight bicycling hydration packs. Especially useful if you’re the type that uses hiking poles in both hands. Super simple to clip the camera in and out of the unit. Recommend adding a tether/leash of some sort. I use a coiled, plastic wrist thing for keys (you see them on kids for their book bag animal things all the time) that I bought at the local drug store.
If you hike/backpack and want to keep a compact camera handy and yet still want to be able to use both hands when not shooting; and don’t want to worry about your camera swinging into a rock; then this is an essential accessory. VERY well built, thoughtfully designed, and well-engineered. Highly recommended even at the high cost.
UPDATE – 3 years later it is STILL my favorite accessory for my camera (aside from hoods or lens adapters). It has never failed and has kept my X100T safely on my shoulder strap during arduous and easy hikes from Pinnacles in CA to Mueller Hut Route in NZ.

Ho valutato a lungo lโacquisto anche per il costo non da poco, e piccolissimo ma ben fatto; diciamo si, si vale i soldi spesi, ho tenuto agganciata alla cintura( con relativo supporto ulteriore / placca) la fotocamera per diversi giorni da mattjna a sera girando per Napol; sgancio veloce ( se si sa dove premere) ma al tempo stesso stabile e forte durante la camminata; per chi non vuole tenere pertanto la fotocamera tutto il giorno al collo o in mano e un prodotto si abbastanza dal prezzo alto, ma fortemente consigliato;

So I have to start by saying I have not field tested this yet, only played around in and around the house. Here’s what I can say so far. As advertised, it is super-light and well constructed. Installation is easy (more thoughts in a moment). The camera (Nikon D5600) sits solid on in this case a backpack shoulder strap. On and off are easy. Locks down tight. Just what I had in mind as we leave for vacation. My thoughts on the installation are this. my backpack has a wide strap which the product would not accommodate. Luckily it has tight loops so it works great there. However, because the nylon loop is so thin, the permanent screws are too long and would poke me. The hand tightened screw set works just fine though and I don’t feel like i’m in danger of it loosening and falling off or anything. Perhaps a spacer of some king? for all I know it already exists. In the end though, very happy with it and hope to come back with a more battle tested review.

All metal design, ability to take my camera off and store it within seconds, that in itself is a great product.
Some people have said that it doesn’t fit their backpack straps, but in the package that came with mine, the’ve included separate bolts that are longer which are able to accommodate a thicker backpack strap. So initially, trying to fit this on my northface borealis was a bit cumbersome, until I changed the bolts, then everything fit perfectly.
