Very cool job Pearl! Check out the YouTube videos on this set. Remember, on most of the videos they’re miking the kick, so you’re getting what you’d hear if you put your ear up next to the head. It is ‘dry’ compared to a standard drum. Do some tuning (like you would anyway) and mike if you need to. Super portable. I changed the kick head to an Evans UV-1 EMAD. Gives much more low end and projection over the stock head. (personal, of course). I put my high hats and crash/ride in the bag. A small duffle for throne, kick pedal, cowbell/woodblock and mounts, a flexible tube with shoulder strap for the stands, stick bag…and I’m off!!

Pearl has done something amazing with this set! Affordable, the kick drum sounds just as loud as a regular kick drum and the snare can be tuned to sound like a tom or stay as a snare and of course you can add other elements to the set. I brought the case as well and this is an amazing deal! It is just a two piece set; snare and kick drum.

The set is perfect for me, i was a profesional drummer for over 50 years, started back in the sixties playing old rock, Beatles, Stones, now my drum set is kept in a closet as my wife don’t like the amount of space it takes every time I put it together so this is just right. I change the head in the snare because I’m going to use it as a tom… the one it comes with is good, but the Evans hydraulic is my favorite… thanks Pearl… I recommend it very much!!!

This kit is great for busking, tight spaces, small venues, practice, etc. I live in an apartment, so I have to find other places to practice, which involves me driving out to a place where I won’t disturb anyone. With the included bag it’s a lot easier than taking a conventional kit.
The snare that’s included is nothing special. You can hit it, and it sounds vaguely like a snare drum, but no matter what you do to it, it’s not going to sound the way you would typically expect a snare to sound. This is because there is no resonant head, and the snare wires press up against the underside of the batter head at an angle.
For a better overall sound I’d recommend looking into a 10in auxillary snare like the one I have in the video. A piccolo would also work.
The kick drum, however, is impressive. With the right amount of muffling, tuning, and with an appropriate beater (I use a fleece one) it sounds remarkably full and punchy. Without mounting a snare on the handle/rod, it is quite stable as well, and won’t move around on you.
Overall, while I was disappointed with the snare, this kit is a great tool to have. I would definitely recommend getting this bundle as it includes the bag, which, when bought separately, is more expensive.
P.S. – read the description before buying anything.

The cymbals and hardware in the photos are to illustrate what the kit looks like as a part of a full setup. A bit misleading, yes, but this is common when buying shell packs.
