Drumbum –
Pedals are great feeling with the belt drive. Great options but this is my second pair. The first was missing the included drumkey and allen wrenches. Plus, it had terrible play in the axle shaft. I suspect Pearl sent me a used/returned pedal that was defective. It came from Nashville (their headquarters) and there was a one day delay in prime shipping. Amazon made good on the purchase/exchange right away and this pair i have now seem to be fine. If Pearl had better quality control and actually rectified known issues with their hardware say like Tama does, I would have given them a 5 star rating. Amazon gets 5 stars for service. Pearl engineering, 5 stars. But production doesn’t and like I said, not rectifying known issues is irritating. I realize they have alot of capital invested in machinery, molds, etc but as the biggest drum company globally, you’d think they could do what Tama does and redesign when need, not just upgrade with bearings. So Pearl, you could be the best but the cheap way out will always have me as a drummer choosing you as a last resort. These Redlines are great despite the company philosophy but a DW, Tama or Trick quality they are not. Feel every bit or better than those others though. I’ll play them though.

I love the response to this pedal. Very easy to play once you get use to it. So glad I picked this beauty up!!

So I’ve been playing some insane fast death metal stuff for the past decade (check out Oppressor God on youtube or bandcamp to see what im talking about).. anyways I’ve been through a lot of pedals and experimentation.
PDP Double Pedal w/iron cobra beaters (no adjustments)
Pearl Demon Drives (Started falling apart after about 5 years…too light feeling, but very smooth)
Trick Bigfoot’s (didnt really feel right and after about 3 years of endless tweaking I gave up on them)
Now I’m on Pearl Redline Eliminators (Smooth, powerful and plenty of adjustments.) Im currently using them with the blue cams, belt drives, spring tension almost all the way out and trick pro1v beaters at about 30 degrees or 7.5″ inches away from the head, and a trick driveshaft(mandatory). Loads of power, long throw, and still plenty fast. Comfortable swivel technique up to 235 bpm, switch to double strokes up to 280 bpm and this pedal keeps up just fine. As well as gives me the dynamic range for any genere to top it off. Its really an amazing pedal.
Listen to me… you don’t need Tricks, or axis, or czarci kopyto pedals for metal (while they are all great in their own right..) These are industry standard for a reason.
Fairly priced, abundant parts, smooth, powerful, adjustable, and they just FEEL right…I cant explain it. With the trick driveshaft and the beater weight of your choice, you have a winning combo.
