I did not expect to like this read as much as I did. It made me sad at times, laugh at times and also be introspective of aspects of my life as I can really relate to Poppy and Alex in different ways. Truly enjoyed it.

This book is laugh out loud funny! It is so well written, the characters are great. It was so good, I bought 2 more of her books. I loved the book and author!

Great book and author. I have read all her books in a short period of time and though they have some similarities the authors descriptions place you in the settings and with the people she describes. Her books are a fast read and Im not one who usually likes to read alot but I love that most of her books take place in Michigan where I like to vacation. I highly recommend her books!

3.5⭐️ I have mixed feelings on this book. I do feel like my rating may be biased, as this book has confirmed for me why contemporary romances are never my FIRST choice. But if done well, I can and do enjoy them. And one trope that I cannot STAND is the miscommunication trope, and folks do we have that here! 10 years of it to be exact. My thoughts are controversial. Although to be honest, a lot of the time reading this book I was bored (please save me from books that go back and forth between past and present), I still enjoyed it! It was sweet, it was fluffy, it had banter. I loved Poppy. I could relate to her on so many internal levels, and she was so fun! ADORED Alex too, but the amount of times I wanted to scream at him through the book! Like PLEASE get it together. Overall a happy love story, and Emily Henry definitely knows how to write a fun love story!

I’d belong to reading group where the women are over 50.
My book club usually chooses more age appropriate books. This book is good for probably people in their twenties to forties.
It’s well written and it’s funny. I just didn’t relate to it. I don’t recommend it for anyone who is above 50.
But I would recommend it for anybody below that age just because it’s a fun read it’s quick and I think it’s a really good book to take to the beach

This book is a fantastic read – made me cry because I’m scared that I’ll never get to fall in love. Definetly worth the price.

In Emily Henry’s “People We Meet on Vacation,” opposites collide in a decade-long saga of friendship, love, and second chances. Poppy and Alex, despite their wildly different personalities—she’s the adventurous New Yorker, he’s the reserved hometown guy—forge a deep bond through annual summer vacations.
The story unfolds through dual timelines, alternating between their carefree adventures and the aftermath of a falling out that fractures their friendship. Poppy, with her irrepressible wanderlust and infectious spontaneity, contrasts sharply with Alex’s quiet, bookish demeanor. Yet their banter and deep understanding of each other’s quirks make them inseparable—until a pivotal moment changes everything.
Henry deftly navigates the friends-to-lovers trope, infusing humor and heart into their journey. Poppy’s quest to revive their tradition becomes a voyage of self-discovery as she confronts her own stagnation and yearning for happiness with Alex. Her character is vibrant and relatable, driving the narrative with wit and charm.
Alex, seen through Poppy’s eyes, is portrayed as lovable yet mysterious—a man of routines and hidden depths. While the single point of view intensifies the story’s tension, glimpses into Alex’s perspective during critical moments could have enriched their evolving relationship.
The novel thrives on Henry’s sharp dialogue and evocative settings. The chemistry between Poppy and Alex crackles with energy, their witty exchanges and unspoken longing drawing me into their emotional rollercoaster.
While the conclusion offers closure and hope, I craved more insight into Alex’s thoughts, particularly in the airport scene near the end. Nonetheless, “People We Meet on Vacation” is a delightful romantic comedy that celebrates the power of friendship, the magic of summer adventures and loving someone “all the way.”

The pace is much different from Beach Read. Must faster, but without giving everything away before the end.
The friends to lovers trope is great and so well done. I love how Henry I able to write swoon worthy love stories but without being cliche or cringe, and really focus on how you can’t just be in a relationship without being in the right headspace also. She’s great!! Really love her work.
This one was also funnier, even though the personal struggles in Beach Read was better executed imo, but it better written and I feel like you can sense Henry is landing in her writing as literary fiction with romance plots.
Spoilers
I liked that they needed time apart to figure out if and how they could be together, after their vacation. It really put the personal development and wellbeing first.
Only “dislike” would be the many vacations. It felt like one or two too many. It could be that I generally don’t like two storylines, but I found that I was bit ‘sad’ when the flashbacks came, because it wasn’t untill the end of those chapters that I felt they made any sense or gave anything to the plot. So a great force to push the story forward, and some very great chapters (Norway/Sweden vacation looking at you👀), but often it felt like something to get through..
Stilled loved the book tho<333

I enjoyed this book, was not my favorite. Sometimes, it felt a little difficult to keep up with where we were or when. I enjoyed Poppy & Alexes’ relationship and friendships. My husband and I always said we were just friends…
