This was easy enough to assemble around the pole I used to hold a birdhouse. It frustrated a chipmunk that tried to investigate the new item in his domain. Since it is flat-topped, I set it just a few inches below the birdhouse, to also frustrate the squirrels that may have jumped onto it.
A good purchase, at a decent price.

This baffle solved my squirrel problem.

Unfortunately, this squirrel baffle doesn’t work to help actually keep squirrels away. I experimented with height of it on the pole, the squirrels always figure it out. The ones that seems to work best are the ones that wobble when moved, nothi mg stationary.

I waited before reviewing this product, because squirrels are highly motivated. If you put something between them and their food, they usually find a way around it within a few days. But not this! The blighters can’t get past it. They climb up into it, can’t go any further, and eventually come out again and retreat down the pole. I estimate that one portion of bird seed lasts twice as long, now that the squirrels can’t get to it. The baffle will pay for itself within months.
This doesn’t stop squirrels congregating underneath the bird feeder and hoovering up the food that’s fallen to the ground. They can get quite aggressive and territorial about it. The solution is to leave a little bird seed on the ground a few feet from the feeder, so that the seed is spread over a patch of ground too large for a squirrel to defend. Our bird feeder drops seed when you fill it, and so all we have to do is to fill it a little way away from the pole; it costs us nothing extra.
I chose this design of squirrel baffle, rather than the more popular inverted bowl products, because I reckoned it would look less like an elegant guano display after a few days’ active service. You know what birds are like. The horizontal surface gets stained with bird lime, but is small and not easily visible from a distance; the vertical surface stays clean.

This baffle prevents the squirrels from getting to the bird seed we put out for the birds. We also bought a taller pole to help. It is stable and easy to install.

Squirrels were constantly at the bird feeders so we got these and it foiled them completely! Easy to install. They were a little pricey but they work and we didn’t waste time/money trying other methods. Also they seem to be pretty durable so I’m hoping they last for quite some time.

We have a feeder on a pole and the squirrels have climbed it despite flat cones and greasing the pole regularly. This baffle took 10 minutes to install and NO squirrels have reached the feeder since. Simple and effective. I wish I had found this product sooner. Perky pet makes good products.

Reasonably priced gadget to stop squirrels climbing feeding station pole. This means you save money by have ‘normal’, not squirrel proof feeders to hold bird feed

I’ve had this for over a year now and it’s still undefeated by the local squirrels and chipmunks. They try but, to no avail. It’s a bit faded in color. However, it’s held up better than expected as our winters are pretty harsh and summer can be fairly hot also. It’s metal too. I recently bought a cheaper plastic squirrel baffle for my other pole. Guess what critters can easily chew through plastic. So, that’s a great plus for this one. The only warning I would give about this is; if you have a pole that is one solid piece and doesn’t disassemble, it may be hard or impossible to slip the baffle over your hook.. Unfortunately, my other bird feeder pole does not come apart anywhere and the hook portion is too curved to allow it to go over so, I had to buy a new pole. The baffle itself works perfectly and although it is a bit pricey, it’s been well worth it in order to thwart the squirrels.

An effective tool in the battle against squirrels

I had a similar squirrel guard in a smaller diameter and the squirrels learned that if the put a foot on each side they could jump around it. This guard is larger in diameter and they cannot get around it. It is completely effective for me. Four bolts position the guard on the vertical pole and it will fit a wide range of pole sizes. It is very heavily made and will clearly last a long time. Well worth the money and it does the job.

I have to admire the problem solving these little pests go through just to get a free meal. I wouldn’t mind if they just took a little, but they will climb up an literally eat their weight in bird food. I got tired of looking out the window and seeing some overweight squirrel gorging themselves. So, I tried several things. Putting hot pepper flakes on the food, didn’t seem to mind it a bit. Several types of lubricants on the pole, the best I got was one day of avoiding them. When I saw this I figured, why not, maybe it will slow them down a little. But, to my surprise it completely stumped them on how to get to the top. It was so satisfying watching them go around the pole, try to climb up, slide back down, go around again, but never figuring out how to get around it! I bought 2 more since then, and they are worth every penny. I even found a muddy paw print by what I assume to be a racoon in it.
