Happy –
First off, this mat is huge. Unless you have a ton of room or an automatic litter box, it will likely be too big for you. But that is by design–it’s made to go under the large Petsafe scoopfree box (which we’ve been using for more than a decade), the first I’ve even seen even close to large enough. If you don’t have trouble with your cat spraying through the edges of your scoopfree litter box, this will be perfect for you. My old cats have started having trouble keeping everything in the box and I haven’t yet resolved why (experimenting), which means the odds of this getting peed on under the automatic box are very high, so I don’t want to use it there at the moment, because it’s not super easy to clean. A couple of years ago, this would have been absolutely ideal there.
I also have a younger cat using a manual litter box who tracks litter everywhere, so this is great for her. There is plenty of room around the box to catch the litter, and this does a good job for that. It’s a little cumbersome to shake out because it is so big, but the size also makes it really great for an open-sided litter box, because you’re covered from all sides.
This isn’t machine washable, which is probably okay because the size would make it difficult to wash anyway. You can hose it off (not a great option in the winter–shower, maybe?) But if you have a cat that pees next to the box, it’s not easy to move without spilling pee.
The biggest problem for me is that it is a super attractive scratcher for one of my cats. I didn’t realize it was the rubber nesty material until I received it, and I know from the past that one of my cats loves to scratch that stuff, so I’m worried she’ll destroy it. If that happens, you’ll end up having to vacuum off the litter it tracks, because it will fall out when you move it; and it won’t work anymore for liquid accidents.

These are helpful in keeping the litter tracking down which was my main reason for getting them. They’re also good for unexpected messes but unfortunately if there’s pee or a water spill it goes through it somehow. The litter also stained the mat but that’s not a big deal for us and not necessarily the mat’s fault! They’re doing the job I purchased them for so we’re happy about that!

I hadn’t had a cat in quite some time, but I recently rescued a pair of brothers. New to me is the auto cat box and crystal litter system (very cool). I got this mat and it’s been great to keep the tracking to a bare minimum. I recommend this rug, nice and easy to vacuum and keeps crystals at bay.

We have an older cat and the pee pads just weren’t doing it alone. We placed this under the pee pads and used binder clips to secure the pads.
We just spat it off and lysol it every few days.

See that gorgeous cat? He looks fantastic but he’s an incredible piggy when it comes to throwing his litter crystals ALL around which drives me crazy. It hurts when one accidentally steps on those! I got the “Large” size and as you can see it’s a perfect fit the the automatic litter box which we’d die without. 5 STARS.

Long story short, I’ve probably tried every type of cat litter mat there is and of all shapes and different sizes. This one is big, material feels durable, and doesn’t move around.
My cats usually would jump out of their litter box and over the old mats we tried, avoiding them. But with this mat my cats don’t mind walking (or playing) on it.
