PHILIPS H11 CrystalVision Ultra Bright White Bulb

Package arrived in two days. Package indicates that these bulbs were made in Germany and they are DOT approved. The bulbs are clear (no blue or yellow tint) with a small silver coating on the tip. I installed them in the stock projector housings of my 5th Gen 4Runner. Original bulbs still worked but I wanted additional distance and brightness.

I chose these bulbs because the 4Runner’s projector housing works best with the light source of a halogen filament. Projector housings require a very tight, focused light source from a specific spot in the center of the housing to get the most distance and clarity. LED elements (even in a properly-sized H11 LED bulb) are too thick for the housing to properly focus the light forward of the vehicle. An LED bulb would light my garage door brightly, but because LEDs lack the centrally focused light source required by projector housings, they won’t project down the road as far as a halogen. Many 4Runner owners have installed HID lights with filaments that work for them, but I chose to avoid using ballasts or making modifications to the dust caps.

The performance of these bulbs is a huge improvement in both distance and width of beam. I estimate that they light up the road 30% further, 20% wider, and 40% brighter over the original bulbs. The light is noticeably whiter than the original bulbs but still on the yellowish (softer) side of pure white (probably 3400K to 3500K). This color is a better wavelength for night vision (of driver and oncoming drivers) than bluish white and the color works well in foggy conditions. I often drive on dark, rural two-lane roads. With the added brightness and distance, I’ve found that I don’t need to use high beams as often when running these bulbs.

I’ve used similar bulbs on other vehicles in the past, and I know that the life of these bulbs is much shorter than the standard halogen. I expect no more than one or two years of life with these bulbs. Personally, the performance is worth the cost and time of replacing them. Installing the bulbs takes only a few minutes, and I did not need to adjust the headlights after installing these bulbs. I highly recommend wearing clean latex gloves when installing any bulb. Getting dirt or even grease from your fingers on any headlight bulb will decrease the life and performance of the bulb due to uneven heating of the glass.

I bought these and had an electrician to put them on my accord 2015 low beam hoping to improve road visibility,
They turned to be worse and low dim as if I have no light.I
I went to another electrician last night after i wrote my initial review on amazon. He told me the bulbs were not installed properly. He fixed the installation and the visibility is much better, excellent

I bought these for my Fiesta ST. Car was only a couple months old and oem bulbs were still very fresh but I wanted visibility that was “plug and play”. I had an upcoming road trip and theres like nothing worse than low visibility on a dark empty road. After researching many reviews, I decided to go with these.

I bought them with some time before the trip and I live in the city. Even though my oem osram was new, I still noticed the difference right away but compared to my HID on a previous car I couldn’t help feeling a little disappointment creep in. Not enough to return them because I didn’t expect it to be close to that, still it was there. What helped bolster my confidence though was the distance that these shined out even with the ambient city street lights.

Once I was on the highway at night with no other light in sight and these bulbs lighting the way though, I began to truly appreciate them…oh man they really lit the road up ahead of you and on the sides. Even the trees and bushes were reflecting a lot back while on the straights. I am truly impressed with these lights! They were doing a lot more than it seemed. You really can tell the difference in the total darkness and that’s the main thing because that’s what these lights are about. On the road only the professional HID lights could compete with these but considering these are plug and play, I am very happy with these.

My only complaint, which is more of a quibble, is that I would prefer a tad bit whiter light as there is still some hint of yellow in it…oh and it did get a bit annoying flashing my high beams at the opposite traffic to let them know that my high beams were off…you really don’t need bright lights much with these in.

Update – 01/13/2018
The lights do have a caveat. They don’t last as long as oem. I expected it though and considering I use them almost every day, they still last for a decent while. The main thing is really just how much you will be driving on dark roads.

Road trip coming up soon and now my oems that I put back in when these failed are starting to dim so I think I’m going to purchase some more of these soon.

If you travel a lot on dark roads and visibility is a high priority these lights come highly recommended!
