Update: It’s been about a month and it works better than ever. I was a skeptic about the “21 days” to get better, but it’s true. No irritation, no ingrown hair. Much smoother than the first few uses, but still not absolutely mirror-smooth. No need for shave powder or oil. Excellent shaver. Original post: Just received it and used it twice. This Norelco works great on my scalp stubble. It provides me with the “bald” look I sought without apparent irritation. My scalp isn’t “smooth”. Not hardly. It looks bald, but if you rub against the grain, it feels like sandpaper. That’s OK by me.
I used a little powder (Anti-Monkey Butt brand). I’m surprised at how completely it trims and how quietly it works. The pop-up trimmer is useful at the intersection with my short beard and with ear hairs. I plan to use it 3x a week.

I was amazed at the low noise level and efficiency of this unit.
I’ve been using a straight beard trimmer on my scalp for years which took some effort. Stray hairs were only found after some search and destroy missions with pale skin and grey hair.
This machine did the work very well. No hair left untouched.
I was a bit worried about getting a snagged hair or two but no such event.
Very good for the price. Happy old man.

For me this has the features I need — great shave, plenty of battery power so I rarely have to charge it (maybe once ever 3 or 4 months w daily quick use?). Has a side urn trimmer that clicks out tho I rarely use it. My old norelco lasted about 40 years so far, still working but difficult to replace the little round teeth inside w the right model (amazing how long it all lasted.) Also great that you can clean the 8nsides by running water, tho that tends to stop up my sink a bit so it’s also convenient to flip the top & shake excess into a garbage can — older models weren’t flip-uo in the same convenient way. This model does not come with a little nylon zippered travel bag, just FYI.

Quiet and effective little razor. Glides over the skin and doesn’t snag, tear or rip, uncomfortably. Rechargeable with a computer cord. Does not come with separate transformer for DC conversion from AC current. You plug this into your computer to recharge. Very nice piece of equipment.

I was going to replace my current Philips broken rotary head cap and razors, but it was about the same cost as this new Norelco. Wet & dry, plus having both a floating head and blades sold me. It’s 60% quieter than my other 2 Norelco’s (for now). I use 2 of the shavers at once to buzz my bald head. Works much better that the single 6+ blade head shavers that I’ve tried. Very happy!

Doesn’t cut close enough to the skin for me, I still have noticeable stubble on my head after multiple passes. Quality is nice and the trimmer is cool but I’d save your money and get something else.
